The BBC is letting go of its delivery managers in its software teams to move to a “Silicon Valley” product model.

Unbelievably foolish. Whenever you delete a role in an org chart, you just push that work onto other people and make them miserable.

70% of trans people believe BBC News is hostile. (And anyone who has listened to Justin Webb knows they are clearly right.) goodlaw.social/kyxv
Poll shows 70% of trans people think BBC News is ‘hostile’
The right wing claims the corporation is ‘pro-trans’, but the people at the sharp end of its coverage disagree. The BBC must stop its attack on trans people.

Seeing a lot of people I frankly thought better of misunderstanding this. It means case by case re. the service provider not the individuals using the service. This is how the Equality Act has worked for years - with providers having to justify exclusion as proportionate.
NEW:

While remaining a neutral party to the case, Bridget Phillipson's lawyers have told the High Court they don't think the EHRC's proposed blanket bathroom ban is the right reading of the law

The Rockstar union case made its way into UK Parliament earlier today
Video game giant Rockstar has sacked more than 30 workers across the UK, including my constituents working at their Edinburgh office. I urged Ministers to support workers who have lost their jobs, and stop this from happening again.

Using LLMs for accessibility is a dead end because a) they accelerate climate change and b) put more power in the pockets of Big Tech and venture capitalists and both of these outcomes increase the inequality disabled people globally face.

These fights are *normal* to get the help people need.

No one is getting diagnosed without similar horror stories.

So when I hear about over diagnosis?

These are the children I think of:
A family I know just got an autism diagnosis for their son. It came after a four year wait that itself came after years of fighting to even get on the list.

I don't know how the people in charge of this country sleep at night.

I think my work laptop has noticed I’m at the top of the slide towards burnout and that’s why it’s refusing to connect to the internet this morning.

Or it’s Windows being shit, one of the two.

the entirety of the british press talked themselves into believing this woman is trans based almost entirely on JK Rowling's judgement of the athlete's appearance.
Nothing illustrates the arseholery of the IOC and the British Press more than the use of the image of a not-Trans woman to illustrate a story about trans women being banned (because there are no current trans women competing at this level)

Looking at a conference CFP and one of the questions is ”why are you the best person to give this talk?”

Apparently “because I’m the person who wrote it” is not the correct answer

Honestly fanfic writers have been solving tiny problems like “this character is dead” for decades now, if you can’t figure that out as a professional writer that’s a skill issue

You can ban every single fucking thing you think makes us trans; phones, anime, social media, whatever and there will still be trans people because we have been here since before all those things.

My entire compulsory schooling was under section 28 and yet I’m still queer as hell, fuck off.

“Why aren’t they banning trans men from sport”

They were before, and they are now, I’ve watched my mutual (@geekyjules.julessherred.com) go through this for months whilst people chat shit about shit they don’t know about
There are many misperceptions about taking testosterone — including among trans men — but the small amount Jules Sherred takes does not translate to bulging biceps. Those are the result of many hours of training, he said.
