I know why this isn’t the case but I wish Tony Gilroy was out here doing David Simon level Bluesky posting.

I haven’t watched and won’t watch this clip but every time I see this guy, he’s got the smile of someone who really enjoys lying on television.
FOX: Year to date job cuts are up 54%. That seems like a troubling number. What's your take?

HASSETT: The flow of jobs in & out is a little higher, there's a little more turnover. A lot of times that can happen because people feel like they're actually able to get another job if they leave this one

Double martini on 1.5 hours of sleep that started at 3 and ended at 430am? On a day when this happened? I’m going to put my phone in one of those time lock safes they use at pharmacies.

My wife waited as long as she could but ultimately was forced by circumstances to ask what I know about CG render farms. Keep her in your thoughts.

My friends and I were once politely kicked off of a patio table at the old Cat and Fiddle on Sunset so that Morrissey, Michael Stipe, and Courtney Love could sit there. I said “oh all right” loud enough for them to hear.
This juxtaposition is like when you hear that like Henry VIII and Odu Nobunaga were alive at the same time

The year is 2125, the head of Andrew Cuomo floating in a jar is running for the Long Island City Community Board, he loses to a large sentient rat from the YIMBY party.

My current working theory is that Dem elected officials don’t want to win because then they’ll be on the hook for delivering what their voters want. There’s good money in being the (ineffective) opposition party, and it’s a pretty cushy gig. They only get mad when you point out that they suck at it.

I absolutely love John Hodgman but he has indicated on multiple occasions that he does not like me. Like I don’t suspect it, I know. We’ve talked. He finds me irritating. It’s fine. He’s extremely smart and funny and will always be and we don’t have to be friends.
I asked this before over at The Old Place and the answers delighted me. So again:

Who is an artist you admire who you suspect would not like you if they met you personally?

I think Peter Dinklage is fantastic. I would absolutely get on his last nerve. He'd be looking for the door while we spoke.

Here in Palo Alto, in a neighborhood full of Eichlers and tasteful Craftsmen owned by a mix of midlevel tech people and retired academics, the guy who bulldozed a perfectly good house to put up what my neighbors call “the dentists office” has two teslas and a No On Prop 50 sign in his yard.
