This is why I went from enjoying My Hero Acadamia but being exasperated by it a lot of the time during the first few seasons, to absolutely loving the later seasons.
We've got to stop writing stories about defeating villains without also examining the systems that create them.
Villains aren't reacting to nothing, and they aren't upset at a world that works.

throw tomatoes at me because I belonged to a system that threw people in cages or out of their homes. I want people to dream of and build a world where people are never evicted or incarcerated. I don't want people to settle for glorifying Sisyphus. This is temporary. A better world is permanent.

I loved UNCA and got a great education there (including many classes with Clarke), but the exposure I had to faculty/administrative politics there made me swear off academia forever.
Notably Clarke publicly voiced something I've heard UNCA faculty and staff say over the years, that UNCA is a "climate of fear" where any dissent or criticism is meant with threats and punishment.

Best thing about Florida when I visited was lizards everywhere. Every flowerbed had a lizard posing picturesquely under a clunp of flowers.
as someone from the South and California, I find the lack of lizards in Massachusetts to be incredibly psychologically distressing
Coming from California, I'm still not used to there being no lizards at all in Massachusetts. Big sunny spots on fences everywhere and not a basking lizard in sight. Alien country.
