That said I am lifting up the Senators who I KNOW fought, like my own @vanhollen.senate.gov. We need to press those Senators to demand a different kind of leadership internally. There’s still a lot more work ahead and we need the leadership to be chastened.
I have come to believe this as well. The list is too strange. I don’t think a majority wanted to cave, but many more than the 8.
I think that these 8 Senators are falling on the sword for Schumer and other Senators who wanted the shutdown to end. This allows the majority of Senators to save face; and only retiring or not up for reelection Senators take the heat.

It’s a ruse.

"'They’re spending more money than I would even tax them,' [Mamdani] said in an interview with MSNBC last week."

This is the message. Make it clear that these billionaires aren't just worried about losing money. They're worried about losing the ability to exchange their money for power.

The argument makes no sense. Ross has been saying that Democrats will never win if they run on left policy. Then a Democrat wins by running on left policy and he says who cares, Mamdani isn't gonna go anywhere.

Americans have been dragged, tackled, beaten, tased and shot by immigration agents.

They’ve had their necks kneeled on.

They’ve been held outside in the rain while in their underwear.

At least three citizens were pregnant when agents detained them.
More Than 170 U.S. Citizens Have Been Held by Immigration Agents. They’ve Been Kicked, Dragged and Detained for Days.
The government does not track how often immigration agents grab citizens. So ProPublica did. Our tally — almost certainly incomplete — includes people who were held for days without a lawyer. And near...

Republicans nuked the filibuster for their *only* goals: tax cuts and packing the judiciary.
GOPers know without it, Dems would:
Enact a major voting rights bill
Codify abortion rights
Raise the minimum wage
Pass the Dream Act, climate action, and more

The two major parties are not the same
The real reason Senate Republicans don’t want to abolish the filibuster, despite Trump’s demand

We’re proud to stand with Kat and the rest of the “Broadview Six” against these trumped-up charges. And we’re proud to support Kat for Congress.

But if things keep going the way they are, I won’t be the last.

That’s why I need to fight these charges with everything we’ve got. Help us do that here: katforillinois.com/legal

This is NOT a "Katie Porter moment." Any attorney worth their salt will tell a client NOT to comment in detail about pending litigation, ESPECIALLY when it's criminal. Being angry that someone won't endanger their freedom for your interview is fucked up. And frankly, she handled it quite gracefully.
I just had a Katie Porter moment with congressional candidate Kat Abughazaleh. The interview lasted 3 minutes.

My brother wisely asks:
Why is it that every disappeared US citizen is not front page news? At the very least we should have a little box with a count of the number of citizens who have been taken away and are not locatable and a link to a story with photos & min-bios, just as we used to do with military casually figures.
In Portland, Oregon, masked ICE GOONS abducted and vanished US citizen Gonzalo Catalan last week. Tragically, his family remains unaware of his whereabouts and has not received any communication from him as of today.
