You suddenly explained for me why I enjoyed the movie, "The Witches of Eastwick" more than John Updike's book. I frequently read books after seeing the movie, expecting the book to be better. (And the reverse, which can spoil my enjoyment of the movie.)

My late father won one of these awards as a diplomat during the Reagan Admin. George Shultz was Secretary of State. I was just out of college and I can't remember what he was being recognized for but I was impressed that it came with $10,000. It looks like the amount hasn't increased since then.

If he picks UK barristers to represent him the same way he picks American ones he definitely will.

When you said, "you almost choked on your lunch" regarding The Onion piece my first thought was soup or sandwich? Apparently the Sandwich Guy was having soup for lunch during the 2nd day of his trial.
