yes! a good number of MAHA-approved products are just repurposed waste from beef production
i'm not saying this as anyone who knows anything about health; i'm saying it as someone who is an alleged expert in interest group politics: the American beef industry is all over MAHA, wellness, and podcast spaces.

remember "bacon mania?" totally a marketing strategy by the pork industry.
New federal dietary guidelines give federal approval to beef tallow, a fat that both cardiologists and the U.S. government told Americans to avoid for nearly half a century.

I’m noticing that Trumpers talking — on Facebook, or other social media, or interviews, etc. — are increasingly picking up on the administration’s stupid and censorial “libs are provoking this” narrative. Their support for free speech was always bullshit.

The moment that anybody outside the DHS apparatus gets inside one of these facilities without cleaning up beforehand, we're going to see things that even the most hardened and cynical among us can barely comprehend.
JUST NOW: Huge mass of agents in a standoff, weapons drawn as Reps. Ilhan Omar, Angie Craig, and Kelly Morrison attempt to conduct congressional oversight at the Whipple Building, which has been HQ for thousands of ICE agents.

Folks look at you like you're crazy when you say we're in the midst of the worst, most unprecedented Article I constitutional crisis in American history, & then it's Saturday.
Rep. Angie Craig: "We were told because this facility is being funding by the 'Big Beautiful Bill,' not the congressional appropriations act, that we would not be allowed to enter the facility. That's complete nonsense ... I informed them they were violating the law. They said they didn't care."

On this day, 250 years ago, Thomas Paine published Common Sense, the radical pamphlet that is credited with supercharging the American Revolution.

Among other things, Paine argued passionately against kings/monarchies, and railed against its theological backing — namely, the Divine Right of Kings.

David Kaye on fire in this one!

Technology is another form of colonization. One in which the US expands its ideological center to govern other nations.

Always remember the technology IS the policy!
the trump admin and its allies are promoting a lie about european tech regulation. it's really not some niche technical/legal thing, though - it's about power & control over european access to information. i wrote about it here for @techpolicypress.bsky.social
The Trump Lie About Europe and Why it Matters | TechPolicy.Press
The Trump administration is promoting disinformation about European law and policy for reasons that go well beyond social media regulation, writes David Kaye.

Gifford: This ridiculous rhetoric by the president—it’s going to impact every single American because it makes them lose faith in us.

That makes them less likely to travel here, buy American products, or invest here. This broken trust—the work of diplomacy—is very hard to build back.

There should be multiple reporters for multiple outlets all over Minneapolis. This is an attack on an American city by our own government. You would think they would even break into coverage on the networks

everyone i know in minneapolis is seeing ICE take people—at gas stations, taquerias, bus stops, schools. just snatching random people.

I learned about Keith Porter here on BlueSky. He was murdered by an off-duty ICE agent on New Year’s Eve after he shot into the air.
Shooting in the air on New Year’s is a tradition in the U.S. that I’ve done before.

This is really freaking weird.
Trump is clearly not well.

At a meeting with oil industry CEO’s Trump suddenly interrupts his introductory remarks, gets up and looks out the window and starts talking about his ballroom. Trump then realizes his mistake and says “unusual time to look”, and sits back down to continue.

I was just denied access to the ICE processing center at the Whipple Building.

Members of Congress have a legal right and constitutional responsibility to conduct oversight where people are being detained.

The public deserves to know what is taking place in ICE facilities.

In the lawsuit requiring ICE to provide access, the Trump admin made rumbles about raising this argument. Looks like they’re leaning in. I find it very difficult to believe that they have perfectly avoided commingling funds in the custody operations account.

I can't describe how bad Minneapolis feels right now. My neighbors are pulling kids out of school. The public schools are offering remote learning until 2/12. We are having conversations in our alleys about how to protect ourselves. It feels like a military occupation with a blockade.
