One of the things I dislike about people being all 'the community should feed people, it shouldn't be the responsibility of the government!' is that, like...the country should be a unified community. Gov. benefits are large scale community helping the downtrodden.

Why is my GP surgery demanding my waist measurement before they'll dispense my prescription? I get needing my weight, because lithium is prescribed per kg and if my weight has shifted they'll need to adjust the dose, but they do not fucking need to know my waist to give me my brain pills.

Agreed. It’s generally not acceptable to blanket “hate” any segment of humanity for their immutable characteristics. Children are people. They are a special class of people with caretaking needs. You don’t have to want to be the one to provide for those needs, but you do need to respect them
I think that if you HATE children, you suck. If you’re not good with them or don’t want them or would prefer to not be around them, that’s cool and should be considered normal.

My wife just changed the battery in our car. If you've ever tried to get the battery out of a Volvo V60 you'll know it's a bastard of a task. She did it though. Only swore in two of her many known languages, too.
