it makes me laugh that the likes of yglesias are all about trying to flip right-wing voters but all the actual right-wing voters who have recently flipped seem to be like "get a load of this asshole" about every one of them

We keep seeing startups who want to replace something valuable (therapy, counseling, tutoring, artistic expression) with some tech bullshit under the banner of democratization. But why do we need to invest so much in bad tech that doesn't work instead of just giving people access to what they need?

If I see one more white dude out here canonizing Kirk I am going to lose it.

We can stand against all gun and political violence without making the guy who spewed so much hatred into a saint. I promise it’s possible.

A genuinely good part of the old Republican aesthetic is how it sought to play down wealth, an impulse born from Protestant values. You can see this in how Bush dressed and decorated his living spaces

That aesthetic now replaced by gilt detailing designed to remind you that the occupant is wealthy.

Filing the skies with food delivery drones instead of making cities walkable is peak America brain.
The FAA will now let commercial drones fly beyond the operator’s line of sight.

The move will "unleash American drone dominance," Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy said.

As a result, Duffy said, " You may get a Starbucks cup of coffee from a drone."
