Their whole campaign was a lie
A well funded public broadcaster is fundamental for our democracy, our culture, and our national unity.

We should be investing in journalism that serves the public interest, not slashing its funding.

I believe in public broadcasting. I believe in protecting the CBC.

The Liberals promised to strengthen the CBC. Now They’re Cutting It.
At a time when misinformation spreads faster than facts, when small-town papers are shuttering, and when the media landscape is dominated by billionaires and algorithms, what does this government prop...

Not sure this was the mandate voters thought they were giving Mark Carney
During the election campaign, Mark Carney pledged to increase the CBC’s budget by $150 million dollars a year.

Now that he’s in government, he’s telling the public broadcaster to find up to $198 million in annual cuts. He can’t claim to defend the country when he’s gutting its media and culture.
Suggest your own spending cuts, Carney government tells CBC, Via Rail and other Crown corporations
Nearly all government departments and federally-funded organizations are expected to propose "savings" of up to 15 per cent of their spending in the next three years.

"AI" bots bullshitting out Bible verses on twitter is one thing; how many times has this happened in purpose-specific apps people downloaded to their phones and are using for spiritual guidance? Because Holy— and I cannot stress this enough— shit.

Literally the kind of shit we've been warning about
AI slop now making up saccharine Bible verses that do not exist

And I resent the way companies are trying to force it. The other day Slack emailed saying they were adding AI to their product that already functions fine. I immediately cancelled that account. I don’t want it. It is not a benefit or feature. It is a yoke. I am happy on this hill even if I am alone

This has been his thing for a while; he thinks that Christianity is an important social force for keeping the masses in line but doesn't believe any of the silly Jesus stuff. It's honestly a surprisingly popular position among pundits.

The left shouldn’t get into a quagmire over the monarchy. Focus on economic democracy — socialize the market. Focus on climate change — keep the planet from cooking. Focus on the welfare state — build it out to serve people.

Stop picking stupid, useless fights.

Every sermon and prayer, every article and essay I’ve ever written speaks about Jesus in the present. Why write about him using the past tense? Why write about him as if he is in the tomb? Do not the angels proclaim and the women preach, “He is not here, but has been raised. I have seen the Lord”?
There's something profoundly sad about some Christians, esp. clergy, saying "IF Jesus were here…" or "Jesus WOULD..." My point isn't a semantic gotcha, but that we Christians have to talk about Jesus like He's actually alive (because He is!) and not just a Good Moral Example locked in the past.

THIS, FOR GOD'S SAKE

White supremacist "Christian" nationalists do not recognize me as Christian, let alone as a pastor or leader of any kind, so I've never been clear on what the hell I was supposed to do when people told me to "come get your people" in reference to them.
BUT, it just isn't the case that like, normie Roman Catholics are somehow responsible for all the excesses of snake-handling charismatic hill-people. Or whatever point of comparison. Yeah, if you find yourself in a family grouping of Christianities that recognize each other as valid, then...
