A thread, from this Queer pastor to Queer folk.
To my Queer and Trans siblings:

As a minister of the Gospel of Jesus Christ, as one ordained and set apart for the office of pastor in Christ’s Church, I do not care what our government says. This president can sign any executive order he wants, but that doesn’t change this truth: God made you. 1/8

No war is ever justified.
No bomb is ever justified.
No kidnapping is ever justified.

Gaza is / was the test for what the world was willing to tolerate in empire’s naked colonial aggression in fascist freefall. Venezuela is the next test. With righteous rage we call for BRICS, the global south, Iran and all those with conscience in empire to let loose righteous rage.

In Augustinian Just War Theory, this is not justified. None of this is justified. This is simply living by the sword for the sword’s sake.

Beginning the new year right by drinking a handcrafted Earl Grey with rose petals, a Christmas gift from my brother-in-law. I’m using my beloved Roy Kirkham handmade bone china set, my “daily driver” for the past two years!

Should auld acquaintance be forgot,
and never brought to mind?
Should auld acquaintance be forgot,
and auld lang syne?

For auld lang syne, my jo,
for auld lang syne,
we'll tak’ a cup o’ kindness yet,
for auld lang syne.

Nothing irks me more than when someone calls my husband my partner or spouse. No. He is my husband. We deliberately chose to use the language of husband for one another.

NT Wright’s hermeneutic is wildly inconsistent. I find it irrational to say the passages that (on their surface) are rather negative about women’s ordination are culturally bound while at the same time say Paul’s first century patriarchal sexual ethic is somehow timeless.

As a Baptist, I would say we historically start from the totality of sin and work our way to a personal, saving relationship with Jesus Christ.

Though if I had my way, I would start from said personal relationship and work our way to agapaic, kenotic Love.
I would love to hear from Christians of other denominations where we start from and work our way to ⚓️
I told you not all christians are the same and not all christians start at the same place...

I am Methodist ... we start from Christ in crucifixion and work our way out

If anyone needs me, I’ll be spending all day in bed drinking hot tea, reading books, playing Legends: ZA, and binging documentaries about the House of Windsor’s Christmas celebrations.

Blessed Feast of St. Stephen!

Good King Wenceslas looked out on the Feast of Stephen,
when the snow lay round about, deep and crisp and even.
Brightly shone the moon that night, though the frost was cruel,
when a poor man came in sight, gath’ring winter fuel.
