Book lover, food lover, wine lover but also partial to a good g&t, pedant, cynic. Personal account - mostly lighthearted, occasionally serious.
This seems like a remarkably inefficient way to deliver food tbh.
Just as you thought food delivery companies couldn't inflict any more misery on society:

Instead of using lowly-paid gig economy contractors to deliver groceries, they're replacing humans with robots, who, in turn, force humans off the pavement into road traffic.

Great reaction to my piece on moving from Spotify to Qobuz and why I did it.

So far, Deezer is the only streaming service to have introduced an AI detection and tagging system this past June, as other streaming services including Qobuz

Put your phones DOWN when driving. Your call/text/witty social media post can wait.
I'm all for road safety but you could have every cyclist in the land wearing a full suit of Christmas lights and drivers fucking around on their phones will still knock them down

It’s the most wonderful time of the year when I get to read this story again.

Read this thread. I promise you won’t regret it.
The most stressed out I've ever been about Christmas was when I was 16 and I got my first ever job, working at M&S in Dundrum. As soon as I started I kept hearing these myths about the Christmas Eve Waste Sale, where all the food that wasn't sold on the 24th was marked down 90%.

The comments and quote posts are hilarious.
So this happened in Oslo yesterday. Four articulated buses got stuck in a roundabout.

Apologies to the Lemass family for this comment, but all names applied to public utilities should be vetted for their 'tabloid headline' potential. Do we want to risk 'More disruption at Lame-ass airport'?

Trust me when I say this is absolutely not the way to chat up women.
Men's romance fantasy novels are so interesting.

Bit of a long shot here but would anyone (Dublin based) have use for these new/almost new junior cycle text books? Seems such waste to put them into the recycling. #speirgorm

Shop local. Put money into the local economy not the pockets of billionaires.
My specific recommendation is www.rainbowkidsboutique.ie but really, go spend your money at any small business or there won't be any left.

I have just heard an advert for Amazon Black Friday WEEK.

How in God's name are small businesses meant to compete with this crap?

Will you all do me a favour and support a small business today. Share the love.

Sunday looking rather windy so if you were planning to put up Christmas decorations then maybe hold off. Not because of the weather but because it’s still November 😆

Inspired by @darach.bsky.social to share two of my favourite poems for #nationalpoetryday
The second one is fiendishly hard to find online but is by Irish poet Gabriel Rosenstock.
Saw it years ago on the London Underground and was immediately captivated.

Weren’t bedsits abolished a number of years back? “Splitting homes into flats” sounds awfully like a return to bedsits.
The Housing Minister's reported plan to push for older people to split their homes into flats in an effort to boost supply has been defended by the Minister for Older People.

'What we’re looking to provide is choice for older people,' Kieran O'Donnell said today jrnl.ie/6876584
