I'm recording music later, in a freezing, leaking shed
I've got a broken rib and I've got a very broken head
At least I am not spending time wishing I was dead
But I'd give you both my feet if I could be tucked up in bed

Inspired by @darach.bsky.social to share two of my favourite poems for #nationalpoetryday
The second one is fiendishly hard to find online but is by Irish poet Gabriel Rosenstock.
Saw it years ago on the London Underground and was immediately captivated.

Some of the greatest poets don't call themselves 'Poets'. They call themselves 'Musicians'.

My old secondary school’s motto was an excerpt from Kipling’s poem ‘If’. I’m sure the last line of that poem, ‘and-what is more, you’ll be a man, my son.’, was inspirational to the 50% of the school population who weren’t ‘sons’.

Hi everyone, my new #counting poem, 'Count Your Life' written to celebrate #NationalPoetryDay is up on my blog. It includes a simple lesson plan and resources.
I would love to feature children's work inspired by the lesson on my blog @poetrydayuk.bsky.social www.dreambeastpoems.com/post/count-y...

Get your controllers ready, kids! We're recommending Press Start to Play by Sam Gayton.
In this fast-paced, laugh-out-loud poetry adventure, Carnegie-nominated Gayton celebrates every kind of play—video games, board games, word games, even “feeling sad” games.

To accompany “Monopoly”, we’ve created a thoughtful and metaphor-driven resource designed to help pupils connect poetry with big ideas about growing up, memory, and the unpredictability of life.

Today was National Poetry Day. Room 15 wrote some acrostic poems about “Play”. We spoke about alliteration, similes, metaphors, rhyming patterns, emotion words and more! Phenomenal work ✨⭐️✨ Poets and they know it! #nationalpoetryday

📝✨ It's #NationalPoetryDay - and we're celebrating the power of words in all their forms.

Poetry isn’t just rhyme and rhythm - it’s also storytelling and reflection. During Create Week 2025, we explored this through monologue writing.

The most delightful session for #NationalPoetryDay today. I read a dozen poems, people read poems, and then we all wrote poems based on the @poetrydayuk.bsky.social writing prompt. Coffee, cakes, conversation and laughter all mixed in. I think I am definitely suited to this year's theme of 'Play'.

On the last day of Ink Sweat & Tears' celebration of National Poetry Day, things slow down. Today's poets - Heather Hughes, Laura Webb, Jude Brigley - all look at nature and its influence on how we might like to play.
