Google at its peak was basically the best information retrieval system in human history and they and every competitor decided going from there to “you didn’t want answers you wanted half-assed auto-complete 80%-wrong hallucinations” in a few years was the right idea

Part of the problem is that "AI Engineer" is becoming kind of like, "Web Developer" in the early 2000s, where it can mean anything from, "I slapped this together in Dreamweaver," to "I wrote this web server in C."
But still, yeah, I think majority are at least not clueless.
