The fact that the person who was head of intelligence for the MPD was working giving information to the head of the Proud Boys as they were running around trying to menace people around the city has only merited the most cursory of attention is frankly amazing to me.
A former D.C. police lieutenant convicted of leaking information about a police investigation to the leader of the Proud Boys group on the eve of the Jan. 6, 2021, Capitol riot, was sentenced Friday to 18 months behind bars.

Shane Lamond said he was merely gathering intelligence from Enrique Tarrio, but a judge convicted him of obstructing justice.

remember, the blitzkrieg is intended to make you feel like there is nothing you can do about it; that’s the only reason to go forward in this haphazard and sloppy manner all in the first week

and the choice of that strategy tells you they are afraid you *will* do something about it

I am not watching one single thing produced by or orchestrated by that administration. That's their propaganda. Why would I make it easy on them?

Inviting everyone to join me on Jan 20th in doing one thing you love, and one thing they would hate.

We must must must resist the idea that generative AI is inevitable. It is not inevitable. People don't really like it. It doesn't do its job well. It removes the humanity from one of the most human-forward things. Not to mention it is an environmental nightmare. Keep banging the drum. Say no to AI.

I checked with an editor at the NYT Magazine this week and they just… don’t publish poems anymore.

People underestimated the impact of Boyer’s refusal at the time but whew. Powerful refusal.
Anne Boyer has resigned as the poetry editor of the New York Times magazine: “Because our status quo is self-expression, sometimes all artists have left is to refuse. So I refuse.”

This is beautiful, loved this line especially: "the layered ground gathering and decomposing to feed itself."
"At night, in the deep-woods darkness, it feels as if there is no time. There is only mind. Only the present"

Always wonderful to discover a flash fiction from a few years back. Sometimes, flash can feel all too ephemeral.
It’s so nice to suddenly meet so many writers! Here’s a micro I wrote a while back, seems apropos of the current moment, in its way. spelkfiction.com/2019/11/18/g...
