The AI-response "Everything can be faked" discourse interests me partly by how much it leaves out of "everything."

AI might be able to fake a picture of a meal or video of a football match, but it can't fake the experience of eating or playing.

Being embodied seems like a kind of resistance.

Guillermo del Toro on wealth: "a wealthy man is a man who has enough, not a man that needs more. If you have enough to invite someone for a beer? You're rich. If you have a yacht, planes, islands, and you still need more? You're not rich."

Yuuuuup. Also, I don't give a shit if some of the worst people in the world think I am being performative or am virtue signaling. Fuck 'em. They don't get to tell me how to be.

Anyway, trans rights are human rights, y'all. It's not complicated.
To my fellow cishet dudes: when we are quiet about supporting the trans community, the only voices anyone hears are the Charlie Kirks of the world. Don't let accusations of being "performative" or "virtue signaling" shut you up - that's their whole point. Our voices are needed now more than ever.

"The content team [...] gives each podcast a title, creates an outline of the podcast, with the content filled out by AI, and assigns it one of the personalities as a host."
So absolutely soulless and no reason to listen.
Oh hey, some flat out evil to go with my coffee.
“We believe that in the near future half the people on the planet will be AI, and we are the company that’s bringing those people to life,” said CEO Jeanine Wright, who was previously chief operating officer of podcasting company Wondery

People are always looking for the Yellow Brick Road to writing success.

The secret remains intentional reading and intentional writing.

The configuration of those two depends on individual factors.

There is no formula.

I love these genAI jockeys who speak of democratising art.

'Art' isn't this cabal with hidden techniques. Everything you need to know is in the open. Heck, composition alone is quite the multiplier for even modest talent, and you can learn it.

No, what needs democratisation is basic income.

Cannot stop thinking about how Octavia Butler wrote a book in 1993 about climate change. It opens with deadly fires in LA in 2025. In the story, a fascist President has just won office with the campaign slogan "Make America Great Again."

She was a modern day Nostradamus. If only we'd listened.

Saw someone upbraiding someone else for having a hobby while the world is on fire, and, my friends:

1. The world is ever on fire, this is today's conflagration;

2. If you don't find time for rest and joy the fire will consume you;

3. Don't let people shame you for being an entire human.

To my fellow dude creatives:

The war on women people said wasn’t happening is fucking happening out in the open. The culture war is raging, but WE ARE THE CULTURE.

Follow women creatives. Promote women. Produce their work. Hire them for your projects and rooms. Women can’t win this one alone.
