Hi all—I'll be periodically live-posting today's FTC event on GAC's supposed "deceptive trade practices."

Trump's anti-trans agenda is getting creative—cracking down on (or at least intimidating) GAC providers w/ misapplied consumer protection laws. The event will be...interesting.

1. Alert, and please share widely. A lawyer at the ACLU has asked me to inform my transgender readers that they should NOT be applying for passports right now - the state department has not issued guidance to comply with the court order and they are urgently trying to get them to do so.
🧵
I am getting multiple reports that the Trump admin is NOT complying with the court order requiring passport updates for transgender people.

Some passport agencies are being told not to give trans people passports with their correct gender marker, for now.
#Trans folks in the US who are reapplying for their passport to be fixed. Don't bother. Just had an emergency appointment today (I travel on the 30th) and they cannot issue me a corrected #passport. All decisions regarding this 'issue' are on hold until they receive guidance from the head office.

Roosters are crowing around my Guadalajara neighborhood. I'm having fried eggs, tortillas, avocado and cafe con leche with @joeldrummer.bsky.social and listening to the GREAT @dionnewarwick.bsky.social singing Burt Bacharach.

Life could be much worse 💗

ok, cis folks—if you said you'd stand with trans folks, it's time.

S.9 is the senate's sports ban bill—a big step to making trump’s executive order a federal law, which is much harder to undo. it can be stopped *monday.*

short call scripts for dem & GOP senators ⬇️🧵

legiscan.com/US/bill/SB9/...
a cloture vote for the way-harder-to-undo-than-an-executive-order federal anti-trans sports ban is now set for monday. that means there's more time to make calls.

no on cloture means it doesn't get a vote. the GOP needs 7 dems to advance it.

please call. there is *so* much evil downstream of this.

Those kids are in a school where they are taught to obey authority. They are taught that at home as well. So for the teacher to blame them for not defying authority goes against what they learn every day, obedience and conformity. If anything, this story is an indictment of that teacher and school.
I think i already shared this but 🤷🏽‍♀️

I just realized "The Lumberjack Song" is an egg song

Suspenders and a bra

My dear @joeldrummer.bsky.social often says, "They (lots of white ppl) would rather burn the fields than share." This applies especially to anything benefiting Black and brown people.

A mobile ultrasound van used to park near my work. It looked Very Medical, but there was no doc or nurse on hand. I talked to someone at Planned Parenthood @ppfa.org who said they see people who got their ultrasound, were lied to about their dates, and it basically made abortion care hard to get.
So-called "crisis pregnancy centers" in the U.S. masquerade as healthcare-related facilities but are actually anti-abortion hubs that disseminate misleading and dangerous medical information.
Problems with Crisis Pregnancy Centers: Studies and Observations - Profolus
Both observations and studies that looked into crisis pregnancy centers or CPCs revealed various cases of harmful and unethical practices.

I wonder what the ratio is, but many (most?) trans people's names are legal names. Court ordered. The same way cis people's are.

Deadnaming is just you saying you're a genitally-obsessed bigot with your full chest.

“Barely a year after launching the campaign to end Missouri’s abortion ban, the court upheld the will of the people,” Mallory Schwarz, executive director of Abortion Action Missouri, said.

My Uncle George is smiling about this right now, I know it.

It's not about logic. It doesn't matter why they're trying to raid emergency schools. What matters is that they're going after kids and breaking up families.
They say they’re only going after criminals… so why does ICE try to raid an elementary school? After all there are probably more criminals in the current administration and in Congress than there are among the immigrant communities.

Can you imagine if reelection were banned in the US, as President Sheinbaum proposes for all of Mexico? The sheer quantity of time saved from campaigning while in office boggles the mind. Imagine having to focus on doing your job, not getting reelected 🙃

"The [NYT] may not have explicitly called for restrictions on trans passports or for a trans military ban, but few modern day institutions have done such an efficient job at laundering transphobia into modern society than the New York Times."
I got mad at the New York Times after their editorial board released an opinion piece condemning Trump's anti-trans EOs and I decided to write about how the paper of record laundered transphobia into the mainstream and paved the road for Trump's transphobia. www.patreon.com/posts/nyt-ed...
