Go & see #ChristmasKarma

It’s gorgeous 🤩 An explosion of mixed-culture merriment that was much needed this dark November night.
Yes, it’s full-on delight, the odd patchy bit but my goodness, Priyanka Chopra singing desi version of ‘Last Christmas’, my life forever changed 🤩😍✨

Vaccinate and forget is the neo liberal way though because actually having to make a conscious decision to protect yourself and others regularly by wearing a mask disrupts that theater

All right, I’m going to make coffee, but I will leave you with this: one of the most radical acts of resistance both to fascism and to Covid right now is to wear a mask. Build communities around wearing masks, etc. Get vaccinated do what you can to protect yourselves and others in your life.

I’m saying between 14 and 19 million because the numbers from differing sources vary but the reality is we are still losing thousands of people a month worldwide to this disease and people claiming that masks etc. “are just too much” are parroting right wing propaganda

In 2020 and 2021 anywhere between 14 and 19 million people died from Covid and these people have the temerity to claim the Covid mitigation strategies like wearing a mask are the real issue and irritation like those millions of people didn’t die from Covid.

It is also very telling that these peoples whole schtick before the comments were closed is “ha ha ha we can’t shut the world down forever just because some people don’t want to get sick”. This is just rehash wing propaganda from people who claim they are leftists.

The reality is Covid is still raging. Thousands of people are dying a month and we don’t know the long-term cumulative damage it does anyone making claims like the person quoted above is not just dangerous. They are actively working to harm themselves and others.

Gee I wonder who these ghouls are happy recently died so they couldn’t speak out against this open anti-science take.

These people are fundamentally no different than any right winger denying Covid or climate collapse using the “Reality is wrong because it means I am part of the problem” logic

Died from an infection in the hospital too. There's such a big chance of that happening to you now. Nursing homes are no better - my mother has COVID again because the staff does fucking nothing to contain the virus.
Poster didn't really understand the criticism is because Alice Wong died the other day and she couldn't mask to protect herself because of her own disabilities, thus relies on people around her to keep her safe.

It's not COVID doomerism to point out the thread was in bad taste after her death.

My favorite is when very old unmasked people do fake coughs.

This is part of my rage-grief stew re: Alice Wong. I get shit relentlessly for masking. I was out last night for 30 sec between mask-on and going-inside, and some bro was making fart noises? Congrats?

"not my problem if they can't take a virus"

"who? huh, sad she died"

I persist out of spite.

Another chilling aspect... The Tories simply passed a law declaring Rwanda "safe".

Do we really trust that this govt or the next won't resort to similar tactics if this finds them politically convenient?

Do NOT license your voice to ElevenLabs.

Their highest-paid actor made $30k last year. Sounds a lot, but that’s from 1.2 bn paid uses - $0.000025 per job. ElevenLabs charge 20 cents per 1,000 words. So they’re making at least 8,000 times what their artists are.

44% of workers make less than a living wage.

If people are working and can’t afford food, food assistance isn’t a handout, it’s a necessity.

We should ask ourselves WHY they’re not paid more.

The answer? Taxpayer hand outs to corporations.

Corporate greed.

Subsidies to billionaires.
