This is worth watching for Coates’ clear-eyed, thoughtful arguments, but it’s SO infuriating to watch Klein conflate/confuse values with political strategies over & over. He says he doesn’t know what his role is anymore, & that is the closest he gets to a breakthrough… (1 of 3)

Horrific. mRNA vaccines have saved millions of lives and could save millions more.

These higher education concessions aren't even reasonable acts of self-preservation because the demands won't end, and their institutions will continue to be targets. Each concession will lead to more demands, and what they try to save will eventually meet the same fate of that which they conceded.

Summer Covid wave is a little later than the past few years, but appears to now be kicking off, alas... A good time to remember those trusty precautions like masking — and if you didn’t get a shot last winter, get one asap b/c who knows what RFK Jr will do with this winter’s vax 😡

What she said.
I am grieving the barbarism that is going to unfurl from all this. People are going to die. Livelihoods gone. All to feed a corrupt kleptocracy.

I see every day up close how different it is from the first time around. There are no guardrails. A disaster. I’m sorry we have to live through this.

If it passes, the final vote on passage of H.R. 1 will follow.

Mahmoud Khalil is finally home with his beautiful wife and newborn son.

Each one of the 104 days he spent detained was a grave injustice.

From the moment of his detention, @ccrjustice.org + @aclu.org engaged my office as we worked closely to help secure his release. They did remarkable work here.
Mahmoud Khalil emerges from airport security with his wife Noor and newborn, legal team and Rep. AOC.

There are no distractions. It's all bad. Systematically stripping trans people of their rights, guys in balaclavas shoving any brown person with a tattoo into a ummarked vans, ending healthcare for millions. It's all in service of fascism and technofeudalism. It's all one thing. That's the point.

ICE just arrested Brad Lander, the NYC Comptroller and one of the leading candidates for Mayor, without grounds.

He was conducting routine immigration court work, escorting individuals from hearings.

He asked ICE for their warrant - well within his legal rights.

This is political intimidation.
Whoa! NYC mayoral candidate and current city Comptroller Brad Lander seemingly arrested at the NYC immigration court while attending to escort someone attending their hearing.
Lander just got detained by federal agents as he tried to escort a man out of the courtroom. Lander was taken in an elevator with masked agents, along with one member of his NYPD security detail.

This is serious, rigorous analysis and it should change the way the media has been covering these protests. These were, in the aggregate, *massive.*
Based on crowd-sourced records of No Kings Day event turnout, and extrapolating for the cities where we don't have data yet, it looks like roughly 4-6 million people protested Trump across the U.S. yesterday. That's nearly 2% of the U.S. pop!

Mobilized anti-Trump resistance is exceeding 2017 levels
"No Kings Day" protests turn out millions
Our unofficial estimate is that around 4 million people attended a protest event yesterday. Anti-Trump resistance is outpacing 2017.

Every flashbang could instead be a meal for a poor kid. Every hotel room for a National Guardsman deployed to fire at our neighbors could house a homeless vet. Every "less-than-lethal" bullet pulled from a journalist's eye could be already needed healthcare for anyone else. All of this is a choice.

COVID is SO much less deadly than it used to be, which is wonderful! But it still exists & still kills tens of thousands of people every year (& causes Long COVID in many more). This is why it’s so important we maintain up-to-date annual vaccines & one of the many reasons why RFK Jr is so dangerous.
With a larger and more complete data set through spring 2025thaf includes flu, we can see the excess caused by Covid last summer and Flu+Covid last winter.

Modeling out Covid and flu, I arrive at 62,000 Covid deaths in the past 12 months, vs 36,000 recorded.
