In 2013, the US Supreme Court removed key protections of the Voting Rights Act in the decision of Shelby v. Holder. Since then, a surge of anti-voter bills have swept across our nation– with many being legalized. The League will not stand for this. We fight suppression. www.lwv.org/voting-right...

We went to court in April. On the last day of October, a federal court issued a decisive ruling in our favor. The President lacks authority to unilaterally alter election procedures—powers that rest with Congress and the states. When we fight, we win. Follow us. Join us. www.aclu.org/press-releas...

In Oregon, the state League, Brennan Center, Campaign Legal Center & ACLU have filed a “friend of the court” brief in “United States v. Oregon.” All are united against the government’s illegal collection of private data for illegitimate uses. www.lwv.org/newsroom/pre... @lwvor.bsky.social

Every voting rights victory counts. Every voter counts. Last Friday, a federal district court in NH ruled in our favor against a defendant who orchestrated & paid for robocalls that used AI to deceive & intimidate voters in the 2024 primary election. Details: bit.ly/43OtzLL @lwvus.bsky.social

"The process of voter registration in the United States has never been solely the work of our government. It has always been a shared and celebrated responsibility, with civic groups providing the energy, equity & local communities." Read the League's opinion piece in The Hill: buff.ly/RxgxZ2K

Last night the Supreme Court blocked a lower court ruling against the Texas gerrymandered map in order to give the full court time to consider the issue. Civil rights groups challenging the map have until Monday at 5pm to respond. We watch & remain vigilant. @lwvus.bsky.social @lwvtexas.bsky.social

“The President’s suggestion that lawmakers should face death for upholding the rule of law is not political rhetoric — it’s an authoritarian threat that shatters every democratic norm. No leader in a functioning democracy invokes death as punishment for dissent.” Full statement: bit.ly/4icmmLn

We are on record. We will fight to protect early voting and vote-by-mail. Last Monday, the Supreme Court agreed to hear a case on vote-by-mail that lays the groundwork for attacking early voting. We will push back on threats to free, fair, & accessible elections. For all. www.lwv.org/newsroom/pre...
