Why am I so unimpressed by these strikes? Israel and the US have failed to target significant elements of Iran's nuclear materials and production infrastructure. RISING LION and MIDNIGHT HAMMER are tactically brilliant, but may turn out to be strategic failures. 🧵 1/17

This is not about the merits of Iran’s nuclear program. No president has the authority to bomb another country that does not pose an imminent threat to the US without the approval of Congress. This is an unambiguous impeachable offense.

Since the 7th October, Israel relaxed the rules of engagement and need to distinguish between combatants and civilians so much that in large areas of the Gaza Strip there was no distinction. Everyone was a target, and this was said, on record, repeatedly. That's how you get to massacring paramedics.

I’m thrilled to share the (very surprising!) news that Copyright Lately has been chosen by the Library of Congress for its Legal Blawgs Web Archive. I’m so grateful for the honor to have the site preserved as part of this historic archive. Thank you to everyone who's read and supported the site!

The absolute minimum right now is for everyone who failed to listen when the screams were at their loudest - when Aleppo fell, when Homs was decimated, when Daraya was emptied, when Yarmouk was starved, when Daraa’s kids were tortured, when Ghouta was gassed - to be humble and reflect.

Regardless of your shitty geopolitical analysis. Regardless of legitimate fears for the future. If you can't celebrate the collapse of one of the most brutal police states in history & liberation of prisoners from torture dungeons, then there is something wrong with your politics & humanity.

You cannot imagine the feelings of us Syrians in these times.

To all the analysts jumping on here to warn about tomorrow, Syrians are ten steps ahead of you.

Have some basic human empathy and let those celebrating the release of the unjustly detained, the reuniting of families, the hopes of return, and the end of a brutal regime do so in peace.
