By the way, before I log off, I just want to say that we were winning before this vote, we’re still winning after this vote, and we’re still going to win in the end. Don’t forget it and don’t give up.
Think I’m gonna log off for a week or so. Let me know if something good happens.

We also need to remember that the vast majority of elected Democrats were and are on our side, and were and are ready to keep fighting. Most Most democrats still deserve our support
Eight Senate Democrats saw charts like these and decided "oh yes, now that public opinion is on our side and our opponent is facing electoral consequences for their policy choices, now is a great time to give up all of our leverage in health care negotiations" www.gelliottmorris.com/p/donald-tru...

Senate Democrats are idiots & cowards but Trump cannot stop himself from hurting work families: this allows him to kick 24 million off of healthcare, he will keep trying to kick 42 off of food stamps, and he will continue to make life hell for federal workers (ensuring serious service disruptions)

I'm sorry, but canceled holiday flights were going to be catastrophic for Republicans. They couldn't do it forever, but 2 or 3 more weeks was the real target.
weirdly honest messaging from the breakaway mod/institutionalist leaders who blew up the party strategy
they're explicitly giving up. "It wasn't working so we quit" that's the message

What was the mechanism by which ACA subsidies were actually going to be restored here
Put another way is 214 more or less than half of 435

I think this held up pretty well.
Government shutdowns are always no win broadly. I think if the Dems stand on a "clean CR" that's about as close to winning as they can get.
gonna need everyone on this website to preregister their takes on whether a government shutdown is an affirmative good or no

This is infuriating. You can’t capitulate based on “we’ll see”.
Shaheen: "We've heard from a number of our colleagues on the other side of the aisle that they're willing to come to the table, they're willing to work with us once the govt is open to get this done. We've heard the same thing from the White House. So now we'll see if they're really gonna work w/us"

Newsom is right.
Tonight’s Senate vote on the federal government shutdown should have been a time for strength.
Instead we saw capitulation and a betrayal of working Americans.
The American people need more from their leaders.
