The fact that trans people have to be medicalized or pathologized and made to jump through hoops to be "allowed" to transition is ridiculous. It's just medical oppression. People should be allowed to transition just because they WANT to.

those of us laid off from Teen Vogue were really fortunate to complete our fundraising goal — the laid-off staffers at VIBE deserve the same support, as Black media outlets and journalists continue to be targeted and discriminated against in “austerity” measures
It was announced on October 16, 2025 that VIBE was "joining forces" with Rolling Stone. As a result, the majority of VIBE employees were laid off. If you have the means to give, this team could use the support! www.gofundme.com/f/support-vi...

If you are the abled parent of a disabled child, other disabled adults are REALLY not your audience if you want to bitch about what a burden your child is. Nobody is denying that caretaking is hard, but you are in effect telling us that we too are horrible burdens and not worth it.
Some abled parents of disabled people are the most violent ableists. They use their children as tools to demonstrate their heroism in shouldering the burden of taking care of a disabled person, think they’re incapable of ableism, and say the experience of a caretaker is the same as being disabled.

it was a treasure to be a disabled person in the world while Alice Wong was in it. she was a fierce voice for disabled people everywhere, and the loss of her is... it's a lot.

while i never knew her, i read a lot of her essays and work. please mask, and continue to think of accessibility always <3

i loved listening to this story in @pseudopod.org by @thomasha.bsky.social. it's so creepy, and you can read it in his book "UNCERTAIN SONS." it's a great example of Ha's work, how he sets up expectations early, and then subverts and subverts, but never leaves things dissatisfyingly ambiguous.
