AI could be hugely beneficial to the NHS, but only if it augments, not replaces, human judgement, and is deployed with strong governance and equity-aware data.

Plus of course the challenges of workforce and infrastructure remain!

A new piece by me.

this isn't the point but it is funny and kind of a broader point that the focus of the subhead is "architects" and then they replaced what was, in the original photo, labourers.
I guess it's fitting that it's a reimagined, worse version of someone else's artwork

For the #s to register big change in self-employment, don't think "docs". Think: staffing agencies for nursing, homecare platforms.
Re private sector: yes, more out of pocket spending, but big change is governments turning more to for-profit providers.
We pay more, get less.

Last point, and a warning shot for every government in this country:
Health and social assistance has been a job juggernaut for almost every month in 2025.
Cumulatively it has added 79K jobs so far in 2025, most rapidly through self-employment and private sector growth.
A note on "self-employment"

An acute example of Cdn establishment hollowness. When asked why no Palestinian voices in a debate *about* Palestinians, Griffith said they're pvt & somebody else should do it. Yet he struts & clucks on stage that Munk is fearless in its free speech & open dialogue. Such dilettante wankery.
Nearly 200 protest outside Munk debate amid calls to arrest ex-Israeli officials over alleged war crimes | CBC News
As many as 200 people protested outside the Munk Debates in Toronto on Wednesday, where a panel of all-Israeli speakers discussed whether a two-state solution is in the best interest of Israel.

Everyone is getting upset about the data centers. They pollute a lot and use a lot of energy and will eventually be very ugly/huge vacant buildings. And I understand being mad about that. Until you consider the state of the lazer tag industry at this moment, and how much help that sector needs.
