Everything about the current 'debate' around this is dismal, not just morally but because it is so stupid. For example:

It conflates asylum-seeking and illegal immigration (and sometimes with migration generally)

It shows no understanding of why there is AS

The BBC is the biggest thump of soft power the UK has and its reach and influence to the benefit of the country is extraordinary. Destroy it, hugely damage the UK. The same people who helped weaken us over Brexit are seeking to do it again.
Interesting to see so many great British patriots right now begging an American president to bankrupt one of Britain’s last remaining truly national institutions.

The cool thing about having a political world view that's not a weird personality cult tied to one old man is that there's no one so integral to your policy preferences that whether or not to overlook and conceal their complicity in mass paedophilia is a hard choice.

I really recommend it.

Still, how owned are the libs?
I'm kind of baffled how the "moderates" have apparently all decided to turn against climate policy at once, just as China reaches green electrostate liftoff mode. I thought these people were all about National Greatness and making Hard Choices

Given that no complaints were received at time of broadcast, Gibb is at least as responsible for the current mess, with the BBC threatened with legal action by a foreign head of government, as those who made the programme. How on earth can he stay in post?

Every time there's a COP, there's more highly paid, well connected and determined fossil lobbyists attedning than anyone else. It's a climate conference for sceintists and government officials.
Can you explain why people paid $billions by the fossil fuel industry want to to attend such an event?
More than 1,600 fossil fuel lobbyists granted access to the Cop30 climate negotiations in Belém (Brazil), 12% up from last year’s talks in Baku, Azerbaijan.

What should be the most serious, urgent talks on the planet continue to be a farce.

Plastic pellets are often mistaken for fish eggs + eaten by sea creatures. Because plastic is so absorbent, it soaks up pollutants from water which are consumed along with them. These beads were being used at a wastewater treatment plant so who knows what they could have absorbed.

A "gaffe" is when you ask your significant other which friend they're talking about by clarifying if they mean the hot one.

A "gaffe" is not recording a nearly 3 minute straight to camera video denouncing critics of a Nazi interview as a "venemous coalition" of the "globalist class."
Calling this a "gaffe" is the #BrokenTimes' way to dismiss and forgive the right-wing defense of a white supremacist. Credulity in the excuse of racism is racism.

writing a piece on this tomorrow but I think the bland truth is that a lot of people just don't care! saw it in Westminster too, fundamentally a lot of men - and some women - simply don't really give a shit if a man is said to be a sexual abuser, as long as they don't have to see if they don't care
One of the more upsetting things in this is that he wasn't blackmailing them: These men were part of this and protecting him not out of obligation or even particularly out of access, but out of solidarity.
Lots of people say: that’s because he’s blackmailing them, but I don’t think he’s blackmailing Kathy Ruemmler! I don’t think that’s what explains it.
