Pet peeve: side by side drinking fountains that only have the water pressure sufficient for one.

FDA, in that order. A shouldn’t be slept on. Berkeley and N Oakland (Temescal, Rockridge, Uptown) has fantastic and diverse food that’s all transit accessible! The breadth of cuisine in the City and South Bay win but there are such great options nearly everywhere
Bay Area culinary octants, who ya got?

Extremely grateful that @metrotransitmn.bsky.social is now running Sunday service on the 61. My favorite hack to get to the State Fair quickly and without crowds!

Should be the standard for how housing is discussed.

Curious to know what political and cultural differences exist such that nearly all fast-growing Sunbelt metros keep swinging left (Dallas, Houston, Atlanta, Phoenix) whereas a few are exceedingly stubborn (Charlotte, Vegas). I think Vegas can be explained by lower education, but Charlotte?

I shudder to think what this means for several city council campaigns who've been using the departure of Lagos Tacos as a centerpiece of their campaign.
Lagos left pretend uptown, prompting many bad takes, only to be quickly replaced by another Mexican restaurant 😏

Legitimately who is paying the salary of Valley Link employees I don’t know where this fake transit district comes up with the funds for FTEs
Valley Link are you okay?
Last board meeting it gets noted that other agencies aren't going hydrogen given the cost and now your looking at BEMUs again.
this makes the project a bit better but still doesn't fix the terrible routing in the median of 580 vs via downtown Livermore

Huge great service change following two amazing service enhancements earlier in 2025. So happy to live in a city that is experiencing the opposite of a death spiral, even with ridership growth flat this year. Exciting changes! Particularly grateful for Sunday 61 and enhanced LRT frequencies
Metro Transit's August service changes are soon to go live, and it's a big one!

Highlights: Route 6 extended to Westgate, 12 min LRT service earlier in the day, Route 61 on Sundays(!), 10-min Route 18 on weekends, 15-min Route 68, new midday commuter routes

The official reason we can't do this, is that the public will lose access to views of the ocean to luxury condos. Just look at these gorgeous views of the water in La Jolla. (The ocean is right on the other side of these mansions)

Imagine these views were blocked by someone's luxury housing /s

Really grateful to @minneapolismn.gov for its decision to close Hennepin to cross traffic during the Pride Parade. Last year’s parade had so many interruptions allowing single occupant vehicles to stop the parade route and it was exhausting. Thank you for giving the parade the space it deserves!

Genuinely cannot express how happy this warm weather is making me. I’m really happy and to everyone in MN complaining, we go through seven months of uncomfortable cold just to celebrate the summer, so let’s go

The way you make this program popular is to make it a lottery...once a year on December 31st, everyone who didn't get a ticket is entered, and wins 50% of the money collected...the mayor goes on TV at midnight and announces the winner with a big show, and fireworks...

By caltrain moving away from their long range vision plan of 12TPH they'll likely not protect areas required for future quad tracking or grade separations.
California needs to protect our existing rail ROWs which are key to future improvements because converting back is so hard.
My most cancellable urbanist take is that we should introduce everywhere a 25m buffer of no-build around tracks like in Italy. Not for safety or noise, just to preserve the RoW intact for future expansion.
And we should absolutely not build above stations unless in the hypercente.

Seeing Phaedra reappear on RHOA makes me so upset. I think there are some mistakes that we just can’t move past and continue to platform, even after 7 years have passed

In all my adult years as a transit rider and urbanist, I’ve never seen a one-day service expansion on the scale of what’s coming to the Twin Cities this June. Having moved here at a time when Metro Transit was still cutting service, this is a huge step forward. www.metrotransit.org/quarterly-se...

Just thinking about how much more fun the world could be if we had a meaningful number of city-states once more. We are more or less down to three? And all of them are uber-cool

Automating the Metro in DC would produce tremendous benefits for the whole region, but transit employee unions don't actually care about the quality of transit service.

Maybe that's fine, but at some point progressive transit advocates need to accept these folks don't share our priorities.

First time on electric Caltrain. This thing is a total game changer I already loved this service, but seeing the transformation in ride quality, speed, and frequency with my own eyes is something else. Every agency should endeavor to turn itself into a Caltrain.

For my first Bluesky post, I’m going to share a map I made over the course of 2024, tracing every single road on which I drove or was a passenger (car or bus). While it can be a bit sloppy and I didn’t distinguish between directions on divided roads/highways, this is a complete inventory of my road…
