ICE told nurses this Minneapolis man “purposefully ran headfirst into a brick wall.”

What actually happened is that they pulled him from a car, beat him so viciously with a steel baton that he had 8 skull fractures, 5 life-threatening brain hemorrhages, and couldn’t remember he had a daughter.

Of course, building 100,000s of units of infill would (a) derisk the pool and (b) provide Californians in fire risk areas an alternative. Unfortunately, the state has opted for the "suicide pact" option.

This is partly connected to land use policy and NIMBY restrictions.

In the aftermath of each mountain/rural fire (not LA) you see people saying they moved out there because it was all they could afford.

Never thought I’d do this myself, but a few years in and my life here is beautiful. When you get here, hit me up and we can play some board games together
literally everything i’ve seen this month makes me want to move to twin cities and build a life there

they're executing moms and nurses in the street. they're using preschoolers as bait. they're stealing people's dads and grandmas and children. they're tear gassing babies. they're staking out schools. there is no remedy but abolition. any proposal that doesn't start there is an act of violence.

He was directing traffic around an ICE operation on Eat Street, looking out for public safety. Then he was shielding another protester with his body while ICE pepper sprayed them both.

He died protecting his community.

He should be alive to tell the story.

Abolish ICE forever.

Policy idea for upcoming RHNA cycle: housing needs/zoning capacity scaled with median home prices by zip code. RHNA need calculated base level everywhere. If >$1M, increased by 100%, greater than $2M, increased by 200%, greater than >3M, increased 300%, etc.

Once more as I did in 2024, the past year I documented every single segment of road on which I was a driver and/or passenger in a vehicle (car, bus). Linked is my 2025 map, showing all road segments from Hawaii, to NYC, to back home in MN and California.

In 2026, California should take what it learned from this task force as well as what overwhelming evidence suggests and introduce a weight tax for passenger vehicles. Non-commercial SUVs and pickup trucks should be prohibitively expensive to own and operate.

S.F. voters closer to weighing in — again — on fate of Great Highway
Sunset Supervisor Alan Wong said he’d back a ballot measure to reopen the city’s westernmost coastal boulevard to cars, closing Sunset Dunes park.

If the worst single-family house in your n’hood costs over $1 million, then your n’hood should be zoned for apartment buildings.

(It’s pretty much that simple)

While I have been somewhat skeptical of Mamdani’s proposal to make the bus free, funding it with paid parking would be good policy and good politics.

In July 2024, a rent control policy went into effect in portions of Montgomery County Maryland that capped annual rent increases at CPI + 3% (max 6%) for buildings older than 23-years old.

New multifamily permits dropped from 2,093 in the first 8-months of 2024 to 54 in 2025.
