Minneapolis. YIMBY. Bikes are good. 🌈
The brain rot is so deep with Star Tribune commenters and Carol B types. MPD received almost every penny they’ve asked for, exceeded their budget by $20 million, but it’s not MPD’s fault. Apparently we’re still supposed to blame the city council and attribute this to “defund the police”.

I’m OK with higher pay but this has to be one of the worst times ever to ask for this big of an increase. Between huge property tax increases for most and a shitty job market where most employees will be lucky to get even a 3% bump, the optics are brutal.
I want everyone to flip out over this proposal to give the mayor a $46,000 raise. I completely agree that our elected officials should be well paid. But people tear their hair out over council pay, so we need to bring that same energy to this one.

Shaffer struggled at tonight's Park Board meeting. Her colleagues not appreciating the last minute budget amendment and not wanting to sacrifice parkkeeper positions. Shaffer attempted to amend her resolution to take money from the land acquisition fund. But the vote to change the rules failed 7-2.
Minneapolis Park Board budget amendment from outgoing Commissioner Elizabeth Shaffer. Wants to cut 3 full time employees (parkkeeper trainees) plus some capital project funding. Those cuts totaling $315,000 would fund two park police.

I can't speak to the accuracy of this map showing the most popular Kraft-brand dressing in the 'lower 48'

I will point out that 13 states prefer RANCH dressing & they cluster in the south & upper Midwest.

Let's talk about WHY Ranch got so popular. It actually starts in Alaska ...

Now we have Ranch-infused vodka, Ranch-flavored soda, people dipping Oreos in Ranch, etc.

I'm not here to yuck anyone's yum. If it tickles your fancy, I'm happy to pass it down.

But I think we can ALL agree that people who like Catalina dressing are heretics who will not see the Light of Heaven.

Aside from the normal uses of ranch, many companies have gotten adventurous. But even if you are a true ranch lover, how willing would you be to drink it?

TN07 is a story about gerrymandering: the GOP cracked Nashville into 3 districts when it redrew the 2022 map, destroying the Dem seat there.

Fast-forward: a section of Nashville, which just 5 years ago had a Dem representative, is now voting Dem by huge margins but it's been designed to not matter.
