Denazification, folks - we’ll be doing it very strongly
I remember the phrase "they can't be allowed to melt back into society" re: the de-Baathification of Iraq after the war there. Like everything about that experience, the attempt was cynical, stupid, and botched. But there really should be a plan about what we do with guys like these in the future.
ICE detain father shopping on Christmas Eve—then steal his family's groceries.

Then 3 agents divvy up his paid for food—taking what they want for themselves.

"Can I just get the wife's number to call and let her know?" woman asks.

"No, guess he should've complied," agent says.

When cameras are installed, they issue many violations in the first month, followed by a steep decline in the second month. This suggests that the cameras effectively deter speeding by changing underlying driver behavior rather than relying on sustained revenue extraction.

The point is that the property tax system is massively advantaged towards wealthy white neighborhoods like Chelsea, the West Village and Cobble Hill; and massively disadvantageous to basically everyone else. Even the Staten Island GOP backs an overhaul.

Describing RFK Jr as having eyes "as blue as the flame" is some absolutely revolting shit. That puffy no-neck weirdo looks like something is severely wrong with him! Glamorizing this as "love" is supremely odd and off-putting!

There are lots of people to blame for protecting Trump, intentionally or otherwise, but history's verdict re: Biden/Garland's manifest failure to hold Trump accountable in the four-years they had to do so should be absolutely brutal. Buchanan/Chamberlain-level indifference and incompetence.

It’s crazy that a Democratic senator who represents Illinois could see everything this administration is doing in Chicago and its suburbs and vote to reopen the government. Like these should be the Senators demanding so much more than everyone else to reopen the government.

If Joe Biden did this during a presser the Times wouldn’t have stopped printing until the 25th Amendment was invoked

@thepressbox.bsky.social I tried to buy a Post today (The red-baiting cover was just too ridiculous).

I work in the Financial District and spent 30 minutes looking for a newsstand or a shop that had one. A few were just sold out but I think I went to 8 newsstands that just didn’t carry newspapers!
Asked if he sells the paper, Windsor Terrace bodega clerk informs: “No, the phones. Nobody’s buying anymore”

I knew that Mamdani had it; he had the people and did the work, and has been the clearest and most lucid in rejecting the untenable current state of things. But the vile, bigoted shit against him was so constant, and I am conditioned to that working better than I want. This feels like an exorcism.

Q: It's election day in NYC. Did you vote for Mamdani or Cuomo?

Schumer: "Look, I voted, and I look forward to working with the next mayor to help NYC."
