“We’ve arrested American citizens for being too close.”
New — Video shared with me shows ICE officers in DC detaining a man on Friday.

Bystander filming asks man for his name. ICE agent lies and says he’s not allowed to speak to him “by law” and another says “We’ve arrested American citizens for being too close…If he gets any closer, put him in cuffs.”

1/ Must listen ep of The Daily. Congress is trying—THIS WEEK—to dramatically cut funding to CPB (which funds NPR and PBS). Rural Americans, who rely on local stations for weather warnings and local politics, will be worst hurt. Those stations will die. podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/i...

Big win for California.

A judge just blocked DHS from using racial profiling.

✅ They can’t stop people for speaking Spanish, having an accent, or standing outside a Home Depot

✅ They need reasonable suspicion—not skin color or where you work

✅ Detainees get free, private access to lawyers

Even if you assume the legitimacy of ICE operations, the idea that a fucking truck-mounted machine gun is necessary to carry them out is insane.

This is about intimidation. This is them letting us know that the streets of the United States have been militarized.

"The projection they're using does not match what we want people to believe, so we reject it and pretend it's not valid."

Just like they've done every other time they want to blow up the deficit to give more tax cuts to billionaires. They only accept CBO analysis if it makes Dems look bad.
SANCHEZ: You say the CBO is off with these estimates. But your website cites the CBO something like nine times, and you've talked about supporting a balanced budget amendment. You don't trust the CBO at all?

MIKE ROUNDS: The projection they're using is not using dynamic scoring

“I am sorry I don’t have a plane for you”

The President of South Africa deftly reminds us that he has a lot of experience in dealing with White Supremacists and autocrats.
RAMAPHOSA: I am sorry I don't have a plane to give you

TRUMP: I wish you did. I'd take it. If your country offered the US Air Force a plane, I would take it

RAMAPHOSA: Okay

Perhaps unfreezing the infrastructure funding for airports and letting Verizon do the upgrade rather than waiting for Elon to test his system for a potential contract would be a good idea. 🙄

In NC, @davidjoy.bsky.social powerfully explains why it’s wrong to remove a “compromise plaque” without public input, and why revering the confederacy is offensive.

Not to state the obvious, but none of them were sent to a terrorist prison in El Salvador. They all had lawyers, indictment by grand jury, a trial or a guilty plea where a judge ensured it was knowing & voluntary & access to an appeals process. In other words, all the hallmarks of due process.

3. The rationale for this policy keeps changing. Remember when it was all about bringing manufacturing home? (That was yesterday.) Now it's negotiating deals. Those are fundamentally in tension.

(I'm only going to build a factory in the US if tariffs are likely to persist.)

of all the things the administration is doing, i am a little mystified by this effort to completely destroy the science, technology and medical research sector in the united states
Exclusive: Weeks after President Donald Trump’s administration ordered NIH to pull $250 million in biomedical research grants to Columbia University, the agency is freezing all remaining grant money owed to the university until further notice. scim.ag/4if5Rg1
