y'know, if tech companies weren't so fired up to call every single thing "AI" it would be a lot easier to distinguish "ML spam filter that is well-sandboxed and tuned on your emails" from "giant context and IP-eroding foundation model that makes people paranoid and unhappy"
since the "google is now training gemini on your email contents" thing keeps bumping around here: it's _not happening_. I say this not to defend google but because I know a lot of people that have broken their filtering and made their lives much more annoying from sheer misinformation.
The malwarebytes Google opting-your-emails-into-ai-training thing is not true. The post is based on one bad tweet.

Not withstanding the contemptible diplomatic-speak yesterday, it does seem like if (if!) these are hard lines, the EU is in no way about to sell Ukraine out

what the Mamdani meeting and von der Leyen's diplomatic-speak both have stuck their feet in is that things feel really precarious rn, and ppl want to know their ostensible allies are firmly onside, and it's past time for any good person to be able to just look at the camera and say certain things

I would not consider myself a moral prude but also I can't remember the last time I saw someone share details of their sex life without immediately wanting to head for the door. There's probably a way to stick the landing but, to a first approximation, 0% of people can actually do it, me included
A fun thing about being a moral prude is my ability to handle details about sex is orthogonal to how hot and likable the people described having sex are.
