Thank you, @governor.ca.gov, for standing strong for Californians and the right to breathe clean air.

This piece of legislation would have made it more difficult to shape clean air policies in Southern California, the nation's smog capital.

Your regular reminder that New York is constantly covered in piles of hot garbage because, and ONLY because, they are unwilling to trade 1/10th of the on-street parking supply for garbage cans
Asked about potential parking backlash, Adams says:

“It's just important for us to realize there are sacrifices we have to make. And these bins don't take up all the parking spaces, and it's a good trade-off.”

SCOOP from me: Trump's AI action plan released last week makes a specific set of recommendations around loosening Clean Water Act permits for data centers — recommendations mirrored in letters sent to the administration by Big Tech lobbyists earlier this year:
Big Tech Asked for Looser Clean Water Act Permitting. Trump Wants to Give It to Them
New AI regulations suggested by the White House mirror changes to environmental permitting suggested by Meta and a lobbying group representing firms like Google and Amazon Web Services.

Unplanned outages strike coal and gas power plants in Texas, but don't worry, solar and wind provided more than 50% of electricity in Texas yesterday. And the sun and wind are free.
Demand near 76,000 megawatts in ERCOT today with over 16,000 megawatts-worth of gas & coal plants offline. About 94% of those thermal outages are unplanned.

No energy emergencies or scarcity as solar & wind are meeting more than 50% of peak demand.
