Permafrost in the Arctic is estimated to hold nearly twice as much carbon as exists in the atmosphere now, as well as a sizable amount of methane. Now, it's thawing – and releasing greenhouse gases.

As utility bills rise nationwide, the Trump administration is forcing retiring coal plants to keep operating and fast-tracking oil and gas projects, while trying to halt clean energy projects like solar and offshore wind. But clean energy is cheaper than fossil fuels.
For the first time, renewable energy has overtaken coal as the primary source of electricity around the world. While countries around the world are shifting away from harmful fossil fuels, the Trump administration is trying to bail out coal while halting clean energy.
