Axing the cycle-to-work scheme might seem like low-hanging fruit for a cash-strapped Treasury, but it would be a big mistake. Particularly with expensive kid-carrying cargo e-bikes, it's one of the most effective modal shift levers out there.

In 2014 I met Australian traffic researcher Ian Johnston at a conference in Edmonton. I think often about something he said, and this week shared his words with a colleague: "If your plan is not for zero deaths, then your plan is for some deaths to happen"

Are you a woman who cycles at night in Newcastle or has before?
A student from Newcastle Uni is looking to hear about your experiences as part of the research for their dissertation.
It would involve a 40 minute interview about your experiences

Last year my wife had breast cancer and a double mastectomy.

This morning, for the first time ever, she was challenged in the changing rooms at the swimming pool. Her breasts were not what make her a woman - but, breasts or not, she is entitled to dignity and protection from vigilantes.

It’s absolutely my civic duty to spread this as far and wide as possible.

The driver of AV70 UDZ was so furious that I took a picture of his car parked fully in a bike lane on the pavement.

He didn’t have time to park properly but had a spare five minutes to demand I delete this photo

Hellooooo I'm sure you've seen people suggest it's totally harmless to generate the odd AI image just for a bit of fun but let's take the theft from artists out of the equation...it uses the same amount of power to create five AI images as it does to boil the water for a mug of coffee.
