My initials were taken. Political junkie, history nerd interested in writing. Practicing physician, licensed non-practicing attorney (why???). The youngest of boomers. Mother to two human Gen Zs. Human who serves food to a Tortie. She/her.
On the left, me all week, hoping something will *happen*. Me, now, exhausted. Happy #Caturday to all who celebrate

My publisher’s been very patient. I’m not doing everything I said I’d do to promote this book (out in a few weeks) because I’m an organizer in a city under federal attack. My days are full and emotionally exhausting. Any help getting the word out means a lot. It's a book people need right now.

It seems to me that the time is ripe for a Bluesky thread about how—and maybe even why—to befriend crows.

This may explain why there’s an aggressive response to people who merely post Kirk’s own words. It threatens the existence of the alternate Kirk - the motivational speaker that had been marketed to young kids and white Christian groups through selective quotation & clips.

Pay attention. Something dark might be coming.

The murder of Charlie Kirk could have united Americans to confront political violence. Instead, Trump and his anti-democratic radicals look to be readying a campaign to destroy dissent.

1/ Here's what's happening.
Stephen Miller: "The last message that Charlie Kirk gave to me before he joined his creator in heaven was he said that we have to dismantle and take on the radical left organizations in this country that are fomenting violence. That was the last message that he sent me ... we are gonna do that."

I've seen this sentiment a lot lately, and I'll just say that if this is how you feel, now would be a great time to become a member of AASLH. For 8 years, we've been leading field-wide preparations for the 250th to help the field share a full and honest version of our history in 2026. aaslh.org/250
Not that I give a shit about the 4th of July, but turning the Trump Admin loose on the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration is going to be kind of a shitshow.

Ultimately, the echo chamber commentary is meant to inoculate the population with increasingly far right and openly fascist rhetoric while also pushing that any other speech is not as important and is based on not understanding the fascists argument. It’s an astroturf. We don’t accept fascism.

Vile motherfuckers. Even assuming a win on Tuesday, they're not giving up. You don't vomit out nearly a thousand pages of your hideous vision and just give up when you came so close.

i hate them.
This is some more incredible work by @propublica.org focusing on the dire consequences of a Trump win. This is the information voters are craving, not the latest poll results. Be sure to read & share. This stuff is important. It's also really good journalism.

I think a lot of men do not understand this: what if there was medical science available to save your life and you just weren't allowed to have it, like no amount of money could buy it? Bc that's what the abortion ban is to women. We feel it in our core, no matter our pregnancy status or intention.
Yes & I'll add: A lot of people (incl many, many women) know someone who has NEARLY DIED while pregnant/giving birth. Or who *has* died/faced serious conseq. All this shit about lack of autonomy over our bodies & threats to health/survival -- it's *not* theoretical to huge chunks of the population.
I also find it interesting that older women are breaking so hard left, too. Many of them are older than Roe (or were coming of age around then) so they actually saw/lived the implications too many women are facing now... and understand how horrific it was.
