“Trans quotas” and why people hate liberals — Quaequam Blog!
Too many liberals have a tendency to confuse their priorities between legalism and justice, as the latest internal Lib Dem row about transgender representation illusatrates

I was genuinely surprised that the Lib Dems decided to pull the pin out of this grenade when even the EHRC hasn't changed its guidance to political parties, and yet here we are www.theliberati.net/quaequamblog...

How is it that healthcare decisions for trans people are influenced so heavily by cis people *with absolutely no relevant expertise, training or experience*?
In no other area of healthcare would this be tolerated. FOR GOOD REASON.

“Several said [Turness] had been one of those trying to broaden out coverage and appeal to Reform voters, including by championing some key Farage coverage during the election campaign.” — people who opt for appeasement are always surprised when the bastards bite the hand that’s feeds them.
This kind of influence by a political appointee of the Johnson government, with a strong partisan record and reputation, appeared a Faustian pact imposed on the BBC by the government of the day. Its striking that this attempt continued after a change of government

All this talk about Predator Badlands being woke and not like proper 80s action sci-fi films, but one of the films it reminded me most of was Enemy Mine (1985) in which an explicitly male-coded alien gets pregnant and raises a family with Dennis Quaid.

It’s remarkable how unspecial Disney animated movies feel these days; even that cow film in the 2000s seemed to get more buzz than Zootropolis* 2, and I say that as someone who liked Zootropolis* 1
* I don’t know why they call Zootopia that in the UK either I’m afraid.

I avoid reposting twitter, but this is well put. Directed at Musk but captures Trump, too. I think it's tragic that such men are so clueless about the beauty of life. I believe their lack of joy is why they try to squash life and light from all of us. Living joyfully is how we will overcome.

I am so bad at being “online”. I’d never heard of this term “yookay” before now and it’s apparently all right-whingers have talked about for months. 🤷

Weird that this is being seen as an option at precisely the point where it has become clear how crap the subscription model is crap and doesn’t offer value for money.

NEW: Rachel Reeves signals she intends to remove the two-child cap *in full*

Never has the phrase “history repeats, the first time as tragedy the second time as farce” felt so apt.
"“The word ‘woke’ now performs the job that ‘communism’ did in the 1950s."
Over the last 10 months, the federal government has cracked down on political expression with a persistence and viciousness reminiscent of some of the darkest periods of U.S. history. Welcome to the Third Red Scare.

It's kind of weirdly funny that BBC News is reporting that the BBC is being sued for $1 billion, but the BBC hasn't seen the letter yet so the BBC is citing other news chanels who are reporting about the BBC.

This is just such bad faith. And it’s weird because no journalist seems capable of pointing out that while the words were changed around the meaning wasn’t.
I do like how, in the bit of Prescott's memo where he criticises the BBC for editing together different parts of Trump's speech, his own quote of "what Trump actually said" is... edited together from different parts of his speech.
