NEW: Associated Press was banned from the Oval Office event today because it refuses to recognise the Gulf of Mexico as the Gulf of America.

The Trump administration again behaving like a despot dictatorship.

Thank you to AP for standing up for factual journalism 👏

Still sorta wild to me that the John Thunes etc of the Senate and House are cool with this, happy to rise to enormous power only to be shunted into "advisory body" status by a carnival barker and an unelected bigot, content to have "passively ushered in a fascist autocracy" as their legacy
Yup. If the President can unilaterally stop Congressional appropriations, then we're past any 'guardrails.' Congress is now an advisory body; it does not control the power of the purse.
my view is that as soon as the administration froze disbursement of congressional appropriations we entered constitutional crisis territory

this is actually a pretty good illustration of the current power situation. it doesn't take any responsibility from Trump to recognize that Musk is 100% driving this train and the White House has approved after the the fact the stuff hes done. Critically Trump's age is coming heavily into play here.

A lot of the people who voted for a dictatorship don't even know we're headed for a dictatorship. They're so oblivious and privileged that they don't even understand what a dictatorship would be like. They're about to find out too late.

Democrats should be responding to all this the way Republicans would respond if Clinton/Biden/Obama just capriciously decided to shut down the Department of Defense by fiat. It’s a 20 alarm fire and the Democrats are responding like it’s a single matchstick.

the “administrative state” in practice is a lot of very hard working, practically anonymous people doing the thankless work of making this country run and a drug-addled dipshit is slandering them in order to steal our money for himself
not trying to pick on this guy. this just reminded me that the federal government does not provide coffee to workers. to drink coffee at a federal office you generally have to pay into a "coffee club" that is managed by a staffer who volunteers to collect money and purchase a monthly coffee supply.
