🧵that tells you a bit about how I think (👋 new followers). I used to review healthcare experiences gone wrong for a living. Research and critical thought inform my decisions but with the ever present reality I can be (and will be) wrong at times.

We may see more than one wave and this variant of H3N2 seems to have a very long tail.
Wear a N95 or better when in public spaces. NO EXCEPTIONS.

If you need to do this, to quote the Matrix movie, your men are already dead. The percentage of fraudulent claims is in the range of 4-8% in any of these entitlement programs in any industrialized country. 1/
I do think the only workable solution is occasionally making a high profile, dramatic example of people who get caught flagrantly abusing the system which helps generate social opprobrium for rule breakers.

It was two independent journalists who finally compelled BMJ to retract that Wakefield paper **years** after the damage was already done from its falsified data. 1/
Everyone impacted by medical guidance should read this article on how Wakefield was defended for years by the medical establishment.

Not unusual.

Worse, since EBM/GRADE rejects the need for expertise, clinical trials are assumed to be "gold standard" unless retracted!

The new chair of ACIP, Kirk Milhoan, is a spreader of vaccine disinformation.

He was fact-checked by AFP for wildly misinterpreting a study about myocarditis in athletes, claiming the vaccine was to blame.

None of the athletes had been vaccinated.

They had, however, had COVID19.

I can't stress enough that you should take every opportunity that comes your way to support your local public libraries. Many of them are currently struggling and are being DEFUNDED. Local action matters on this front. Don't sit back until those libraries are gone before taking ACTION.

The way to read the Canada-Alberta MOU is that Carney is using the Trump effect as political cover to pursue the deregulatory agenda he’s long wanted. I spoke with @naomiaklein.bsky.social who called it a classic example of the shock doctrine.
Did the climate world misread Carney?
Many in the climate movement saw a fellow traveller in Mark Carney — the man who could preach climate action in the language of finance — but what if they were wrong from the very start?

The Venn diagram of people who ask why anyone still wears a face mask in 2025 & people who just kind of blankly stare at me and don't know what to say when I tell them that the last time I had the flu, it gave me Celiac disease and now I can't eat gluten without going to the ER- is a circle.

Physicians and academics often believe that they/we are immune to being radicalised online, but the reality is the opposite. No one is immune, and I saw this happen to Prasad and so many other physicians and academics when covid started. It’s pure hubris to believe anyone is immune.
Prasad is exhibit A of Twitter brain. Someone needs to do a detailed case report tracking his decline from reasonable skeptic of high price oncology drugs with questionable outcomes to COVID mask skeptic to full on vaccine skeptic. It was all in plain site on Twitter, and a hell of thing to see.
