I've been asked this question at events. Do you write for the audience and my question in response is, who is the audience? What is the audience? Do you mean what is "expected" by western readers? Do you mean what a certain magazine seems to buy? What's trending with publishers? Is it a monolith?
Been pondering the "write for yourself / no, write for an audience" convos I've seen going around. This obviously varies for everyone, but for me it's "write for myself, edit for an audience." I can't finish a project unless I retreat into a bubble and pretend nobody will ever read it--

Bitcoin now consuming as much energy as the entire country of Pakistan.

That seems bad.
The people at CBECI were kind enough to send me a copy of their updated Bitcoin power consumption data

At the end of 2024, Bitcoin's total consumption for 2024 *did* end up matching that of Pakistan. 2024 saw the biggest jump in power consumption ever. Absolutely wild stuff ->

I hope those Senate Dems are glad they gave away people’s healthcare so the GOP could then dismantle SNAP benefits.

The scale at which the President is profiting from his post is staggering. Perhaps past presidents and their self-dealing snuck out with a million or so — a briefcase full of cash. This time, it's billions, which you should visualize as a fleet of school buses filled with Benjamin Franklins.
