That U.S. academics didn't collectively develop strong labor consciousness is really going to bite them in the ass as universities bend the knee to this administration. Politely worded letters to presidents and trustees are not going to count for much of anything.

Plainly, the people mad about the work required to write well and make great art who are justifying various artificial intelligence tools as shortcuts to that creative process don't value the labor inherent to it.

In some ways actors for the new stuff acknowledging the transphobia they are standing with is worse than if they just stay silent or even overtly support it. “Yes i know i am collaborating with the worlds no.1 transphobe destroying trans rights, HOWEVER“
Cis society would rather try to buy of their guilt with donations than let their support for Goebbels’ childrens books die
Lol lmao i mean youre still doing Harry Potter so get fucked but very funny tho how this fully acknowledges the Harry Potter brand and trans rights are fully opposed to the point of businesses trying to do carbon offset but for fascist collaboration lmao www.them.us/story/czech-...

Random man, saying what we all are thinking...
“The reception was mostly warm besides an occasional detractor, including a man who pulled Cuomo in for a handshake, took out his phone for a selfie, and as the former three-term governor of New York smiled for the camera, told him, ‘I can’t wait to watch you lose again.’”

Good summary. Also, given that we have killing, persistent heat afflicting half this country and people have budgets, AI is at this moment almost certainly causing deaths for people who can no longer afford to cool their homes.
In summary:

1. Something that is effectively eliminating jobs (AI) and causing more climate change problems,
2. Is putting more of a burden on the average consumer, especially those who are in lower income brackets,
3. Who have to suffer environmentally as a result.

The AI explosion means millions are paying more for electricity
Across much of the eastern U.S., electricity bills have jumped. The reason? Data centers required for AI and other tech wonders are driving up electricity demand.

"Liberate this city from socialists and burdensome leadership." If that's not regime change, I don't know what to tell you.

The inflection point is now.
Kristi Noem: "We are not going away. We are staying here to liberate the city from the socialists and the burdensome leadership that this governor and that this mayor have placed on this country and what they have tried to insert into the city."

Sen. Alex Padilla is then forcibly removed!

It's about finding a way to banish entire people, entire ideas, out of society, back into the closet or worse.

Actually a good distillation of the mindset. Having already unpersoned everyone who understood what was happening, there’s no need to reconsider the belief in one’s inherent superiority.

The pandemic conditioned people to see the disabled as acceptable losses

Once you sacrifice an entire group of people, it gets easier for fascism to take hold.

The Spanish flu gave way to Nazis, where the disabled were the first people killed.

Friendly reminder that your taxes pay Geo Group and CoreCivic (the two largest owners of private prisons including ICE facilities) billions of dollars and they use it to starve people to death.

Behind every human rights violation in American history is some asshole sitting on a pile of money.

Even if you don't know how much the IMLS matters in your community...it does.
There is a LOT of reporting on IMLS right now, but it's being done by people who know what it is. The DOE being dismantled is overshadowing this and that's being done INTENTIONALLY.

But anyway, DOGE is in the IMLS offices right now destroying it.

Say goodbye to interlibrary loans + more.
