It takes a special kind of privilege to be upset about missing a beach trip because heaven forbid you have to try to keep people from dying because their benefits and Medicaid have been gutted.

My grandparents owned 2.5 acres in SoCal that was covered in veggies, berries, and fruit/nut trees (pecan, avocado, stone fruits, fig, and others) and they still were nothing like self-sustainable. People have no idea how tiny a 1-acre homestead would be.
