As an aside: Since I'm still in pie chart mode, here's a rough breakout of total healthcare enrollment for the entire U.S. population, a simplified version of my "Psychedelic Donut" which includes more granular data. It's a blend of hard numbers & estimates but should be pretty accurate overall.

If the President can rule by decree and cannot be scrutinized or reviewed by the other two branches, then this experiment in democracy is done.

If the Supreme Court ultimately agrees with what the gov't is arguing today, that the President has broad Article II powers that would permit it to deport people & there can be no judicial review, then literally no one is safe.

Not attend. We are in the midst of an unprecedented Article I crisis. There is no constitutional requirement of a <speech> for the SoTU. And all the norms are now gone. Hold a press conference. Call for his impeachment or resignation. If he wants an audience, he can stop doing the illegal things.

Wow: Jeff Grant, a top career official at the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services, retired today. On his way out, Grant sent this letter excoriating Jeffery Anoka, who carried out the DOGE firings, and said Anoka is "ethically and legally bound to restore" the jobs of the fired employees.
