The expiration of subsidies does NOT change total premium payments. The share that taxpayers shoulder would fall, while the share enrollees pay would rise. The word for that is "transparency."
@kff.org's rhetoric is increasingly accurate. Still, room for improvement.

ACA enhanced premium tax credits expire at the end of 2025, which will increase premium payments for Marketplace coverage by 114% on average.

Obamacare is posting what Obama called “jaw-dropping” premium increases.
The first $700B didn’t fix the problem. The next $1.3T won’t. Supporters' only idea is to spend $500B more.
If Congress cannot now admit Obamacare has failed, what would it take?

Not looking good for Obamacare
- premiums have risen at 3x inflation
- subsidies for those earning up to $600K have numbed the pain
- those subsidies will soon disappear as premiums rise a further 26%, revealing the full cost to wealthier enrollees

ACA Insurers Are Raising Premiums by an Estimated 26%, but Most Enrollees Could See Sharper Increases in What They Pay
The amount health insurers charge for coverage on the ACA Marketplaces is rising 26%, on average, in 2026.... Most enrollees would face even sharper increases in what they pay if they ACA’s enhanced premium tax credits expire.

Maybe, but the guy sitting next to him was really smart.
Eric is a Missouri congressman.
He is quite literally dependent on the federal government for his paycheck, his housing, and his free healthcare. He’s a tax recipient.

The real numbers on the impact of Republican changes to health insurance subsidies are being made public, and they are extreme to say the least. Suddenly, the abstract fight over the federal government shutdown and Democrats refusing to compromise on health care costs makes a whole new world of sens

It appears that The Party of Limited Government™ is now using the unilateral executive power to impose tariffs, to threaten governments in other countries, demanding that they increase spending on socialized medicine, to the benefit of the pharmaceutical lobby.
