These downstream effects of so-called MAHA's anti-vaccine policies are spreading. Measles, which had been eliminated for in the U.S. for decades, is now on the rise. Hopefully the District's public health infrastructure can handle it. Can CDC be counted on to help?
People of DC, more than two weeks into being totally iced in, now get news of measles spread—brought in by Right to Life marchers.

Looking for people exposed on the Metro, at DCA, at Children's Hospital, on Amtrak.

Gee, thanks, RFKJr et al.

Honoring history, not trying to erase it as the current U.S. administration has been doing.
Not at all surprised to learn that Bad Bunny has a historical adviser. His halftime show was a reminder that our history and culture are deeply intertwined with the rest of the western hemisphere. We should think of his performance as part of #America250. #SuperBowl

Pop star Bad Bunny needed a Puerto Rican history scholar. UW–Madison had just the one.

An American gulag. Illegal, unconstitutional, and must be dismantled.
‘One officer told me that I "had no chance of returning to Minnesota" and that "the best thing for (me] is self-deportation." …
She offered me $2600 to self-deport.
I refused.
I wanted to talk to my attorney.
They didn't tell me the judge had already ordered my release and return to Minnesota.’

ICE and CBP are terrorizing our communities and trampling on the Constitution. I wrote a bill to give Americans legal tools to sue and hold lawless agents accountable.
Exclusive: Democrat’s bill would let people sue ICE over misconduct
It’ll be a nonstarter for the Republicans, but will demonstrates the scale of change Democrats now believe is needed.

A PROTEST SONG!

Folks, do what you can.
Sing your protest.
Speak your protest.
Join neighbors in protest.
Blow whistles in protest.
Record evidence in protest.
Offer late nite insight & solidarity in protest (🙃)

Do what you can.
It all matters.
I wrote this song on Saturday, recorded it yesterday and released it to you today in response to the state terror being visited on the city of Minneapolis. It’s dedicated to the people of Minneapolis, our innocent immigrant neighbors and in memory of Alex Pretti and Renee Good.

If I was Putin, with agents inside US Govt, these would be the instructions to finish off the US as a global force:

1. Gut safety agencies covering aviation, nuclear, food & disease protection.

2. Dismantle USAID

3. Introduce tariffs to crash economy & cripple food production

4. Betray Europe

I can't think of a faster way to undermine the country than simultaneously firing government workers, cutting scientific research, rolling back protections on public health & environment, & cutting essential services. It's like the US was defeated in war and is being occupied by a hostile enemy.

Hoping for the best but clearly there are reasons the best-case scenario may not be how things work out.
Having an anti-vax person in charge of public health is pretty terrible. On the pod, I asked former senior HHS official Stephanie Psaki what she fears could hit us in the next few years, and the answer was very harrowing.

So, they are
- illegally dismantling US govt, disabling Congress
- burning our alliances, turning US into global pariah
- reigniting inflation, exploding the deficit, unraveling US public health system
- putting backdoors into Treasury
This feels more like an attack on the US than a new government.
