Let's stop pretending that the billionaire media, endlessly attacking the BBC, has the slightest interest in balance, impartiality and accuracy. They won't be happy until the BBC is more rightwing than Vlad the Impaler. And then it still won't be enough.

A puff piece that relentlessly refuses to adduce actual evidence or to consider that any aspect of 'the other side' might have any virtue. Why publish this superficial guff? The topic deserves much better.
Universities risk irrelevance by failing to engage fully with AI
It is difficult to think of another sector that has so dismally failed to strategically engage with the transformative potential of IT, says Ian Richardson

I forget where I heard it, but I came across someone arguing that the managerial class loves AI for (among other reasons) its promise to take over moral decisions, and I think they were 100% right

(They also hate their workers and customers too)
a few months ago I said "having generative AI handle absolutely anything with regards to healthcare is a nightmare and should be banned" and a bunch of people made fun of me and called me stupid. anyways,

Once you start thinking of AI as a war on humanity, on human thought, on human inquiry, on human labor, on nuance and critical thinking, it slots in pretty seamlessly with the right wing ideological project, oligarchical political projects, big tech's political projects, etc

Part of OpenAI's pitch was that they needed to develop AGI first because otherwise it might fall into the "wrong hands," like China. So this prompted massive investment into the technology, which no had been contemplating, but which may bring about exactly what they claimed to be preventing

here is my story about how Zohran's focus on community amid the loneliness epidemic helped young people connect their politics to an organizing infrastructure, that interviewed ZM, and does not use the NYT's framing of "they don't know how to make friends" :-) and also ran 4 days before NYT's lol

“What Mamdani has done is not only inspire and mobilize young people, but he has exposed the establishment and some of their calcified views of participation and inclusion.”

this, to me, is the core story of the election

in the primary, voters in central Brooklyn, and Southeast Queens supported Cuomo by large margins

but in the general, they voted for Zohran by double digits

Cuomo's inability to hold on to the moderate Democratic base cost him the election
