Memorial to the Jewish volunteers of the International Brigades. It plays with Star of David and the 3-point of the IB. Around 20% (about 7,000) of Brigaders were Jewish. Fossar de la Pedrera, the mass grave of the victims of the Franco regime in Barcelona, Montjüic cemetery

Mariposa in Spanish, Papallona in Catalan, Bolboreta in Galician, Tximeleta, sounding flitty in Basque, among many other terms in Euskara. All beautiful words, for me Spanish narrowly wins it. Image of swallowtail from Wikipedia.

On the tour today, two young native speakers of Breton, the first time I think I've heard the language face to face. I'm sure there were Breton brigaders, but the only direct link to the SpanishCivilWar thst came to me is Lluís Companys' exile in Brittany village of La Baule before arrest by Gestapo
