A List of Things Said to Have Been Ruined by Women

I’ve been thinking about this, and I feel like Sherrill’s win is more seismic than we may think. We’re in the Philly metro area and my teen watches A LOT of sports. The ratio of Ciatarelli to Sherrill ads had to be 3:1 during every single game for the past two months.
The states were both right around Harris +6 a year ago. Spanberger now at +15 and Sherrill at +13. Also, Sherrill running w fairly unpopular D incumbent against opponent w high name rec.

I thought about this movie when I saw the Matt Walsh tweet about Mamdani being the product of immigrants taking over NYC. My grandmother grew up on Long Island and her parents were both immigrants.
It’s hard to believe but there was a cartoon about an immigrant mouse and it was seen as totally fine and not controversial and not woke because it was an aspirational and nice thing about America that people could come here and find a better life

Every time I see something like this I think about how my old MOC clearly wasn’t up on the Republican talking points when he told a reporter he didn’t think his February 2017 town hall was packed with outside agitators b/c he knew most of the people there.
They are soooooo mad. (They also blame TikTok.)

So while we’re talking about 2011 in Mississippi, that’s also the year that voters defeated an abortion ban even in the midst of a Republican blowout.

IDK, it’s like having access to abortion is something people want, despite what some Democratic pundits seem to think.
"Republicans had held a supermajority in the Senate since sweeping the state government in 2011."

Remains underrated how national polarization is wrecking party competition at the state level (which is needed!).
NEW: Mississippi Democrats broke the Republican Party's supermajority in the state Senate tonight for the first time since 2011.

It came as Democrats flipped 2 Senate seats and 1 House seat.

“Mississippi just broke the supermajority—and the people have taken back their power,” the party says.

This morning I’m thinking of the NYT reporter who just the other day promoted her story on Hispanic women voting for Ciatarelli.

Also broke up the GOP supermajority in *checks notes* Mississippi!!
Democrats just ran the table, winning the marquee races -- NJ and VA sweeps, NYC mayor, CA prop, PA Supreme Court -- and lower-profile races in red and purple states across the nation.

If the media you're reading or watching paints this as anything but a massive win, stop reading or watching them.

I sincerely hope Democrats pay attention to tonight’s results across the country. They won’t learn anything but still. Maybe. People are excited by change and original campaigns and bold ideas and candidates under the age of 50!

Wow it turns out the entire country is not permanently reactionary because Trump won an election by 1.5%

Anytime I see anything by Chris Cillizza I remember how he told people who were worried about Trump in 2015 that they were ridiculous. Really has his finger on the pulse.

A super majority folks. Amazing.
And, as an added bonus, @statenavigate.org is now projecting Dems with 62 seats (out of 100) in the VA House of Delegates (even more amazing when you consider that Dems had only 34 seats heading in to the 2017 elections). Wow, what a night! bluevirginia.us/2025/11/live...

Fellow bitter southerners,

North Carolina, Kentucky, and Virginia all elected Democratic Governors. Georgia in 2020 wasn’t a fluke. South Carolina, Florida, Texas, All y’all of the y’allternative persuasion. Keep being loud. Keep getting into good trouble. Protect black folks and trans people. Vote

I would just like to say how happy I am that the Ciattarelli ads will not be on tv after tonight.
STOP THE COUNT!

I made my husband watch A House of Dynamite with me (my 3rd viewing) and learned he’s inexplicably *not* now obsessed with nuclear policy.

My godfather was a DEA agent who worked undercover, so…
my grandfather worked for NASA in the 1960s and met Wernher von Braun, so yeah, a lot of us are three hops away from all *kinds* of horrible people

(My grandparents were also with the U.S. military in Berlin during the Airlift, which I’m sure makes matters even worse, hops-away wise).
I'm only three handshakes from Hitler, because of NASA.

So I want to get this straight. Ezra wrote a book on political polarization but his idea is to moderate positions to appeal to people who are only voting based on polarization and thus will not vote for you no matter your policy positions? With the added bonus of alienating people who would?
I will never understand the pundit obsession with getting Democrats to solve "political division."

Not only is this what they're already doing, but Klein admits that Republicans will never do the same. So elections will remain constant GOP smears and simping Democratic promises of bipartisanship.

My husband, who is forever traumatized by Malcolm Mitchell’s season ending injury while celebrating a TD, is yelling “don’t drop Gunner! Don’t drop him!”

Omg I remember being at the Tech game in 2010 when we scored and gave them the ball back and this is hilarious.

What is the refusal to implement gun legislation if not a continued sacrifice to the god of guns?
It is always wild to hear the Christian demanding human sacrifice in the form of killing queer people with poverty and violence pretend they stopped human sacrifice.
