Yesterday my partner and I counted all the ads along Chicago's Brown Line for "Friend," a company selling an AI chatbot pendant, and tallied how many of those ads were defaced.
Still working on a longer piece on this, but here's the quick and dirty: we counted 104 "Friend" ads total, 42 defaced.

Dear every film and TV studio: live action is not the apotheosis of motion pictures. Lots of things are perfect in animation. Many things are better suited to animation than live action. Just having an actual person in front of a camera does not immediately make something superior.

I grew up in a lilly white upper middle class suburb in Ohio. I get sunburnt at night. I had non-family aunts and uncles. For fuck's sake.

Trump is turning the presidency into a massive Bribe Delivery System, or BDS. He's creating many new avenues for media companies, law firms, universities, etc to channel tribute payments as he directs. Feeding the BDS is the cost of doing business in Trump's America.

White America desperately needs to reckon with the fact that being a polite person is not the same as being a good person.
White people have a kind of intra-white respectability politics about the level of racism that's considered permissible in polite company and I think a lot of polite racists are mad the gutter racists are tarnishing their good name.
