Perfect use for the stupid burrito taxi robots now roaming around Chicago. Put a plow on them and maybe they’d have some social benefit
But *how* will they #PlowTheSidewalks? With what technology?

Why is Newsmax being played in my taxi? Are they buying slots as effectively advertising or is this the can company choosing it?

Durbin has cemented his legacy. He shouldn’t have a moment of peace post retirement for how he’s sold out his constituents, and done so with his voicemail turned off
CALL ALL OF THEM. SAY PRIMARY.

"Sens. Jacky Rosen (Nev.), Tammy Baldwin (Wis.), Mark Kelly (Ariz.),Jon Ossoff (Ga.), Gary Peters (Mich.) &Dick Durbin (Ill.) were among the Democrats who participated in secretive negotiations to end the shutdown & are considered possible “yes” votes for the deal."

Nothing less than tearing this all down and holding each and every one of them accountable
A family friend was telling us about what her husband shared about his experience in Broadview before he was deported back to Mexico. She's been sharing to friends and family because she's just in disbelief & horror what her husband told her. She wasn't able to talk to him until he was in Mexico.

I can’t even figure out the use case. These go so slow that they cannot go that far. If you’re ordering from somewhere nearby, how is this possibly better than just walking to pick up. If you’re using this in Wicker Park we should just kick you out of the city.
I am not allowed to put up an ADU on my own property but the robot burrito taxi can use the already limited pedestrian space in my neighborhood

I guess happy but pretty disappointed in the poison pill around who can build these. Feels like it’s set up to make these fail and for someone in a year to say “only luxury ADUs are being built”
ADUs passes 46-0

I'm shocked

Chicago on the eve of an invasion by our wannabe dictator. Peaceful, happy, loving. My wrath is unending for those who would aim to destroy this

Cannot be said loudly or often enough: the bill House Rs are considering passing tomorrow would rip health insurance and food assistance from millions, leaving the poorest households worse off - to partially pay for tax cuts that most help the richest - while increasing the deficit by trillions.

Just the most self-defeating attitudes. Without private investment we get no new housing. Without new housing people will just gentrify the existing housing. This creates 28 new homes with 6 affordable. And instead we’ll get nothing because people believe building housing costs nothing

Absolutely pathetic @chicagocta.bsky.social. Maybe having some decent service could do something here
DC Metro has been the fastest-growing rail transit network in the nation through the first part of 2025, powered by steady service improvements and federal return-to-work mandates. SEPTA Metro, the NYC Subway, and the Boston T also put up strong growth numbers.

Nobody, including Booker, thinks a filibuster is Our Salvation.

Cory Booker talking for manymany hours will draw the attn of the inattentive, despairing, & hesitant. It will inspire, inform, & light a fire under some asses. It will have a knock-on effect w/ other electeds—IF WE MAKE NOISE ABOUT IT.

This is the thing. It’s at best absence of a negative (which I disagree with - I think sacking the head of CPS to take out a high interest loan is bad). But even then there is no *positive* achievement to point to. Prior mayors did stuff!
I mean he hasn't diverted money to the cops, sent insane texts, raised bridges against protests...

Yes. More of this

I really like the idea of a shadow cabinet. Make it clear which Dem is taking the lead on watching and reacting to each department.
One thing Democratic leadership could do right now is to name an alternate HHS secretary--someone to provide ongoing public updates and health information. And do it for other departments too. Start showing voters what a Democratic government would look like--press conferences, speeches, all of it.

Coward
I would caution anyone entertaining this sentiment. Mass protests are likely to be dangerous. We no longer live in a country where the right to peacefully assemble exists for opponents of the regime.
We’re gonna have to march.

Hell yes. Someone is fighting
What the president has tried to do in the last 24 hours is illegal.

His actions threatened millions of Illinoisans' access to health care, food, and even fuel to heat their homes. I will stay vigilant in defense of IL because if you come for my people, you come through me.

The US Constitution does not grant the President this unilateral authority.

In Illinois, we will stand against unlawful actions that would harm millions of working families, children, and seniors.

I’d agree with this if there were any articles connecting the two things. Instead Block Club seems to do two types of stories: (a) person is being priced out of gentrifying n’hood and (b) neighbors push back on ‘out of character’ development without realizing (b) causes (a) and their role in that
It can be two things. It's the push and the pull. I think centering stories about folks potentially being displaced from gentrification is helping the yimby cause.

Pathetic. Now both parties are just going to do xenophobia?
Elon Musk is wrong.

The main function of the H-1B visa program is not to hire “the best and the brightest,” but rather to replace good-paying American jobs with low-wage indentured servants from abroad.

The cheaper the labor they hire, the more money the billionaires make.

While theoretically true, this is a great way in practice to just have no housing built and exacerbate the housing crisis. I’ve yet to hear a real, substantive pushback to “let the market build housing and reap the rewards (including tax dollars that can go to subsiding now-income renters)”
