Mag Mile is basically an urban mall and its collapse is more reflective of national storefront retail trends than it is an indicator of Chicago's crime rates.
The venues are too big and expensive for local businesses, and national chains aren't investing in brick and mortar locations. 🤷🏼♀️

We need courageous leaders that put working families at the center of all they do.
8 democrats caving to empty promises is an indefensible leadership failure
For the sake of our country, Schumer needs to resign.

Literally the one place in the country where Democrats got their clock cleaned was in the home county of state chair who refused to endorse Mamdani and has generally overseen a string very poor democratic performances.
Has New York Democratic Party chairman Jay Jacobs resigned over Mamdani yet? I hope he hasn't, so that he can instead resign over *improving Republican margins over Trump 2024 in an anti-Republican wave election*. Trump won Nassau by just 4%—now look at this bloodbath

The key factor that everyone seems to always forget is that Trump was the host of what was once the highest rated show on network TV - a purportedly non-fiction show that portrayed him as a hyper-savvy and hyper-successful businessman.
Trump has gotten huge numbers of infrequent voters to the polls, twice. He's deeply unpopular but has mobilized a large, unprecedented coalition of Americans motivated by some combination of ignorance, avarice, and cruelty. It is hard to describe what he has as something other than charisma
His charisma is fundamentally incompatible with me (and likely many of the people on Bluesky) but it’s kind of insane to say it doesn’t exist

It's getting hard for me to believe the blue city mayors and state governors empathizing to cameras and reporters about the terror that lawless federal agents are wreaking, when the armed employees of said cities and states either do nothing to stop or help the feds. At least admit you're toothless.

@ramirez.house.gov says that ICE agents went room to room inside the daycare, looking for teachers to take in front of literal toddlers
this morning, ICE went into a Spanish language immersion daycare and took a teacher from the building in front of screaming and crying kids and parents at dropoff and the daycare had to shut down for the day (near Lane Tech, where they were yesterday). Really hoping today's "theme" is not "daycare."

It's a beautiful fall day, crisp and sunny. All the local daycares are keeping kids inside rather than going to the parks for recess due to ICE presence. Despicable.
Waking up to news that a daycare worker in my neighborhood was kidnapped after ICE followed her inside the private business where she works.
