Today, I’m announcing my campaign for Illinois State Senate in the 6th District. I’ve spent my career as an organizer, community leader, and policy analyst—working at the federal, state, and city levels. I’ve seen our government up close and I know we can do better.
It’s official—we’re FIRST on the ballot for State Senate in the 6th District!

For the first time since 1972, our neighbors have a choice for what kind of Democrat we send to Springfield. With no Republican running, the March 17 Democratic Primary is the election.

This campaign started as one living room conversation. Two hundred salons later (!), it’s a movement for the future we deserve. We all crave connection—and that’s how real change begins. Join us!

Thank you to Indivisible Lincoln Park/Lakeview for an incredible conversation—our 200th salon! We talked health care, fighting corporate power, and the future we deserve.

The old guard’s had their turn—it’s time we elect better Democrats with the courage to fight.

I’ve heard it all: families putting off surgeries, people priced out of their neighborhoods, and neighbors terrified of what Trump’s allies are doing to our country.

And instead of fighting for the people, Senator Durbin sold us out.

We need Democrats who fight for us—not fold under pressure.

We continue to fight the injustice and terror ICE has brought into our neighborhoods—from a preschool teacher taken in front of children in North Center to the inhumane conditions at Broadview. Our communities deserve dignity, safety, and justice.

A day care teacher was taken by ICE in front of kids yesterday. It’s pure evil.

But last night, North Center showed up—because we keep us safe.

Grab a whistle. Record everything. And know that I’ll keep fighting alongside you every day.

URGENT: Springfield is about to wrap veto session and could vote tonight to fund public transit. Call your state legislators and make sure they vote YES on SB2111 to fund Chicago’s buses and trains!

For over 30 years, the political machine has gone unchallenged—and we’re changing that.

Join me and former Congresswoman @marienewman.bsky.social in La Grange for a fundraiser to build a government rooted in compassion, human rights, and bold leadership.

We just turned in our petition signatures to the Illinois State Board of Elections!

Thank you to all of our volunteers and thousands of neighbors across the 6th District—we’re officially on our way to the ballot. This is what people-powered politics looks like.

I’ve watched too many friends get priced out of Lakeview. We can change this trajectory if we build more housing.

Join me Tuesday, Oct. 28 at 5:30 PM at the Center on Halsted to support 188 new homes and new neighbors.

Federal agents tear gassing the Lake View neighborhood.
October 24, 2025 at 6:34 PM
There are multiple reports of ICE activity in Lakeview and Lincoln Park today.

If you see ICE activity, call (855) 435-7693.

We keep us safe.

ICE is terrorizing families and trying to silence those who speak out. What they’re doing is evil—and our community is fighting back.

I’m proud to stand with my city and say loud and clear—ICE is not welcome here. Not in Chicago, not in Illinois, not anywhere. #NoKings

We shouldn’t settle for a Democrat who jumps at the biggest check from someone who proudly voted for Trump.

Sen. Feigenholtz should return that money—or better yet, donate it to 19th District Mutual Aid, a grassroots group supporting immigrant families right here on the North Side.
From the campaign finance files: Illinois Senate candidate Nick Uniejewski is calling on Sara Feigenholtz to return a $5,000 campaign check from Sam Sanchez, a prominent local restaurateur who voted for Trump and has faced blowback for his advocacy.

Illinois lawmakers are back in Springfield for veto session—the short stretch when they return to address unfinished business.
But will they do anything bold? Or keep kicking the can while our communities struggle with transit cuts, ICE raids, and funding crises?
October 14, 2025 at 1:16 PM
Back at Broadview. ICE is terrorizing our communities—tear gassing journalists, abducting people in Budget trucks, and destroying homes in South Shore.

We need leaders who will fight alongside us, not stay silent.

I’m sick of having to beg my politicians to do the bare minimum to stand up for us. We need fighters. Right now, ICE is terrorizing Chicago.

When we launched, the establishment said “wait your turn.”

But instead, we listened to our neighbors—knocking on doors, hosting 175+ salons, and building a campaign rooted in community and joy.

Hope is spreading. Let’s keep it going before midnight: secure.actblue.com/donate/nu-ge...

“I have known Nick since he was an organizer with Indivisible and I’ve seen his commitment to community up close,” said @lenifor48th.bsky.social. “The State Senate needs leaders like Nick who will fight hard, listen to diverse populations, and organize alongside them every step of the way.”

Hear that knock on your door? It could be one of our volunteers—or me! Join us tomorrow (Sunday, 9/28) or next weekend to collect petition signatures. We’ve only got a month left—let’s bring real change to the 6th District together!
